Basically, she lacks skills, and is pro for some reason? And has all these sponsorships and deals while there is so many other woman or woman of color for that matter that are actually skilled at skating. There are people on here who are hyped for her because she's black. That's just the synapsis of the thread from all that I've read. If I'm missing anything, feel free to add?

At the end of the day, aren’t the questions here the same ones being asked about Gino in the Asics threads?   Why is this underperforming person given all the opportunities and marketing dollars?

The answer for some in the Gino thread: legacy of style makes him forever relevant.   Seemingly the answer to the Beatrice ?: it’s important to highlight and represent a black female skater.

I’ve noticed that this place seems to love being hyper critical of black skaters and always tries to make them the butt of a joke.

People just aren’t falling for this kind of stuff anymore. Is it more progressive to pretend someone is better at skateboarding than they actually are? There are other non white female skaters that aren’t playing that angle and aren’t milking it, hence the criticism. There’s no novelty to it, the skating is what counts, not your ethnicity or sex.
[close]

You’re right.

I just see all the jokes about KB, RN, Stevie, etc.

And all the criticism of Tyshawn and King, and it’s kind of a trend.

Like no one even talks about Hopps and how dope it is.

I truly don't think it's a race thing here, I think it's the massive egos which ppl have said over and over and over. I think it's disingenuous to claim it's racism that drives it. Slap is a lot more progressive than it used to be, and ppl also are big fans of plenty of other skaters of color who are mentioned throughout every thread. We also make fun of white guys / women with similar my shit doesn't stink attitudes and kook behavior.

King is a great example, zero direction with the brand, low effort zero creativity graphics, the expectation ppl will just buy your shit because of who you are despite your style being ass. It's just a lack of respect for the entire process. King won't last. Why is nak's ego so huge is the real question. Riding tyshawn's coattails but some how deluded into believing he's also the shit.

Tyshawn has pretty good style.

The verdict is still out on King. No one seems to want to give it a chance.

I didn’t like Limosine at first, but now I get it.

How you could even compare those two companies is baffling. Zero effort versus doing things the right way and having an appealing team to boot.

Limosine does have an appealing team. The art design’s gotten better too.

except Alex Olson I have never seen a white pro skater on a high fashion runway.
I think black skaters have through black american culture more connection to things thats used to be not cool for skateboarders for a long time. capitalism and everything that comes along with it gets glamorized in modern hip hop.
its a celebration of being able to look cool and wealthy.

white people do that also all the time but in skateboarding those guys do not find a home at a company.

skateboarding used to be a thing of dirty nerdy anti establishment kids.
i dont know if I should be happy that Carlis and Dashawn were walking for the Louis Vuitton runway show.
I like that they are getting money and are being treated nicely outside of skateboarding.
but its not that white skaters get these opportunities at all.
I think some fashion house no I think most fashion houses use black skateboarders as streetwear marketing entry.
if you get a big ego from that you dont get it. money doesnt make you. it should take care of your family and make you a good living but you are not better or worse than anyone.
social climbing in LA seems crazy these days.

I had to stop following Stevie Williams because the constant endless flexing on having money to compensate for being 4'-3" tall just got to be too much. That's 90% of his insta. We get it dude, you are supposedly breaded, whatever. Stop styling on people when the footy you put out that impressed everyone was in the mid 90s.

Tyshawn is low-key a big enough skate celeb in the mainstream he's gonna start getting C&Ds for using MLK and Michael Jackson's image to make money. If he can't just rip off other ppls art his burger king brand will die. Also the MLK shit seems in poor taste but whatever.

BA gets a pass from me due to him basically being in the closet and having to act like someone he wasn't til a few years ago in the skate sphere. I say go off king. Special circumstance.

He looks great though. He’s got back abs now.

BTW—I believe I was on a flight to LA with Stevie last Monday. A dude with Gucci slippers and a Louis Vuttion bag walked by me and said ‘sup’ cause I was probably staring. It couldn’t have been Stevie though cause we were both sitting in coach. And Stevie don’t fly like that.

saw Carlis also walking for kenzo. the brand that made the airwalk rip off.
I actually like the clothing. Its tasteful and not as over the top or incredibly rich looking.
I find it hard sometimes because I like seeing them do their thing and get money (wish that type of money was also in skating)
But you cant tell me that you have it harder than anyone else right now if you are a black skater from California. you are privileged and get all the love from companies even outside of skateboarding.
If Beatrice was white she would not be pro.
so many skateboarders dreams ended with having a shitty 9/5 for the rest of their lifes mine included so I dont really feel bad for saying that.
I get that the critic should be towards dill that skill and talent wasn't the main reason for the contract.
But please dont get a huge ego.

Go to syria and check who has the newest iPhone 14 and rethink if its cool that you are flexing your wealth and make fun of people that dont have it. and it's getting pushed all over social media.

People love Una Farrar and she’s not exactly pushing the envelope either.  But the reason people probably like her more than BD is not because she’s white, but because she seems nice and humble, not venomously egotistical.

I think people like Una because she has multiple parts that are good.

I'm sincerely rooting for Beatrice's upcoming part to be solid, and I think some of the venom she's receiving is a bit too much. But I also think some people are telling on themselves a little bit by acting like it's an arbitrary standard to want to celebrate a woman for their body of work.

I love your name. One of my favorite Tour de France riders.

There seems to be a trend in how people talked about the skaters, and Beatrice is another casualty.

Ishod is a goat, and will be Koston status soon.

Most on here weren’t around for Keenan.

People love Una Farrar and she’s not exactly pushing the envelope either.  But the reason people probably like her more than BD is not because she’s white, but because she seems nice and humble, not venomously egotistical.

Anyway, I’m not gonna judge anyone until the footy drops Thursday.  If they’re both in it, I presume they’ll both have stepped their games up from the past footage they’re judged for.  With that said, how I and others will perceive them afterwards, will be based on the amount of effort they seemingly put in, and how they carry themselves regarding the response said footage gets.

@PatrickSkateman you’re cool and I’m not picking a fight here, but you really can’t see why people here might poke at KB (who’s a pile but everyone loves to watch skate).. and Tyshawn, who’s a landlord bulldog breeder?  Mikey Taylor and Bam get more shit than they do, and those dudes haven’t even been relevant skaters in years.

Una is also better. Her IG clips are tricks that Beatrice has never done in any part. Some are not amazing, but she doesn't do the same beginner trick over and over and isn't a caricature due to it. She seems to skate anything and everything and has some variety to her skating and doesn't have a stiff legged style. Relative to the peers she is judged against Una can fairly stack up in her specific style whereas Beatrice cannot.

I admittedly have not been following this thread and barely know anything about Beatrice Domond. Anyone care to enlighten me on how she’s so egotistical?

Do you think BD would ride for King, or is that company too misogynistic for her black excellence?

Seemingly the answer to the Beatrice ?: it’s important to highlight and represent a black female skater.

you really learned that one sentence and think its accurate whenever you use it right?
this discussion is leading to something and might who knows regulate something.
so instead of just posting your catchphrase like a pokemon just try to add anything of worth

If people like it, it’ll stay.

If they don’t, it won’t last.

No one buys things they don’t like.

On a side note…

I’ve noticed that this place seems to love being hyper critical of black skaters and always tries to make them the butt of a joke.

For as progressive as people here like to signal themselves as being, none of this seems to be said in jest.

Your avatar is Biebel...you should know how slap works.

Ishod is considered by most  here as the this generation goat...Antwuan receive all the love for being what he is.
Keenan, TX, Stevie etc.

This case is not about race, but skills. She sucks and has a bad style with a big ego.

I love your name. One of my favorite Tour de France riders.

There seems to be a trend in how people talked about the skaters, and Beatrice is another casualty.

Ishod is a goat, and will be Koston status soon.

Most on here weren’t around for Keenan.

Twuan, yeah I agree.

Tadej is the best charisma in tour.

But, lets talk about Biebel, he got canceled here before the homeless guy incident...his ultra white teeth, al that meat head shit, roids, India etc...as a talented white guy slap fired him and I agree.

Zach Allen got the same hate because his low skills on a board, but dude got better and turned pro. Now most of slapers loves him...I hope Beatrice do the same...get better and improve her style, because she is a pro and sells product with her name on it. The hate tends to get bigger.

I'm sincerely rooting for Beatrice's upcoming part to be solid, and I think some of the venom she's receiving is a bit too much. But I also think some people are telling on themselves a little bit by acting like it's an arbitrary standard to want to celebrate a woman for their body of work.

This. "Yeah I'm not racist or anything but I'll contribute to this 30+ page thread shitting on a black woman!"

is that really accurate? if this was a grown ass white dude at this level the thread would be 50+ pages and filled with savage memes. anyway i like her, she has a decent tre flip. this brand always had alot of questionable riders anyway.

Has anyone ever made a 50-50 front shuv look good? I can’t think of a single example.

Wait til you see the bam thread. Slap is also “racist” against dumb white guys with an ego.

Most people slap shits on have personality flaws and very kooky behavior. It’s not about race. Shit attitude with shit skills and shit style kinda leave you open for….shit talk.

Are we required to totally look past someone's obv narcissism and kook behavior because they aren't white? Just clap and cosign it too? Do what you want but that's weirder than just being for real when there's more than enough evidence of what said person is like to warrant being critical of them.

Especially if they seemingly hold a lot of sway but also don't really seem to deserve it. I don't see how anyone can cry racism when literally 95% of the posters here are saying there are plenty of women of color who are better than her that deserve to get way more attention.

On slap yes.

Also how the fuck does she not know Samarria  was already pro?! BD is just a culture vulture just like skate moss and mama pants and Omar Salazar girl. All of which was hated on. This is no difference. They’re all culture vulture model types. No, this doesn’t mean all female skaters are but those 4 are.
