Obviously you haven't read the thread, I've offered reasonable positions and critiques. For every one of you, there's someone else who agrees with me and doesn't take any issue with what I have to say.

Why, it's been a fun one and no one is going overboard imo. It's been kept pretty grounded in the reality of the situation. More of a debate than a shit all over someone thread. We've mostly discussed being a pro skater and what that should entail. So what if some ppl are passionate about their opinions? I feel bad for ppl who aren't.

Same if her part is dope. History is history in terms of what she has said and done, but if the part is good I'll take back all the stuff I've said about her skill level despite what others may think. I have zero issues changing my opinions due to a good reason.

It's a complete demographic grab, but it doesn't actually surprise me. Vans isn't all that different from cariuma and cariuma is trying to be the next vans which is more a lifestyle brand and less of a skate brand than people think. They're both primarily going after the same mall dollars.

I don’t see how that could be remotely their plan.   There have been plenty of skaters dogged with negative opinions that no one wants to touch.   Vans doesn’t even obliquely acknowledge the controversy either.   The only thing I could possibly imagine is that she had people negotiate her an extremely savvy contract that mandated colorways or her other colorways moved enough units to give her more.

They put her on hoping to draw in a different demographic, and they hope most of those people don't skate because there's way more of them than us. If skating ceased to exist they wouldn't go out of business but all the core companies obv would.

Even if you heavily back Beatrice, you have to admit Vans is doing dogshit for the movement to get non traditional skaters in the spotlight. In the midst of layoffs, they decided to give another colorway while never bumping Chandler or Marie up from flow. They must have decided in the meeting that one trans rider (Cher Strauberry) is enough representation.

I’m not even speaking in skill level right now. If the narrative is to get people who don’t traditionally get seen in skating, they should put on skaters who put out parts and try. Also, put on more than one person so it’s not the entire group of people depending on a controversial skater.

The vibes that I got from Marie's ig is that she's maybe getting Asics now. Her most recent clips are skating in those Dime Asics runners that just came out and Asics commented on her most recent post, which she commented back to. I'd guess that she quit Vans to skate for Asics.

Either way, this thread still sucks.
