I've never had a Red Delicious that was actually nice, but I do enjoy them in theory.

It's just a theoretical Red Delicious, that's nice and juicy, that I'm actually inventing here buddy! I sometimes think of one when I'm eating a Braeburn, and it helps keeping things exciting. I refuse to be mocked.

Never paid that much attention to sub-types of apples, nor were there so many available around here. Maybe that's just a euro thing.

But Granny Smiths def take the no. 1 spot. I need that kick, that crunch, that tart. I want my fruit to be fruit, not a candy like an Idared or Pink Lady. Fujis are an ok replacement for those wjo find GSs too fresh and sour.

But I don't understand the sentiment of "I do GSs only for cooking". Sure, maybe in risottos and omelettes when you need that zestiness a bit. But for baking, like crumbles, pies and strudels? Some Jonathans and a pinch of cinnamon does the trick. Squeezed off after grating, of course. And you drink the leftover juice, of course. Mixed with water, of course.
