aren't you just trying to say vegan shoes are better? this is about hot takes...not vegan shoe update.....
How’s this:
All skate shoes should be using that vegan suede because it performs better than real suede and doesn’t need as many animals to die.
The vegan suede on the Joslins was good, and bonus: it wears away faster than animal suede so I got to show off my sweet grip tape marks on my shoes and I got to feel like a real skateboarder again.
But…. That’s also the huge downside: it wears down much faster.
Damn, I wondered about those…
I swear the vegan accel ogs I had last year were by far the most durable accels I’ve ever skated and I’ve had pairs of those things dating back to the good old days (pre-toe shape change, lol).
I did superglue the stitching but how well the “suede” itself held up to hundreds of flicks was mind blowing. I went through the soles way before the upper was worn through.
Right on. I mean the vegan suede on the Joslins held up for a long time, and then the rubber layer also could hold up for a long time.
With every flick or Ollie there would be some of the fibers left behind, lol. So while, absolutely, it lasted a good long while, it still doesn’t compare to animal suede.
But for an animal alternative, it was great! (Yet just a bit less beathable… but I’ve heard the accels don’t breath anyway, haha)
