As a longtime lurker of shoes and gear, Tate's influence will surely be missed.

DAMN. What a bummer. Tate got his share of kooks and roastings way back (“Save on bandwidth”), but he was a super helpful and knowledgeable guy.

RIP to Bubblegum Tate and thanks for everything you did to hold it down in Shoes & Gear and all over.

This is really sad.
[close]

Yeah was always amazed by his ability to take teasing in stride and never have to fire back.
[close]

Yeah the running joke was that Tate was a bot created to post Street Corner ads. Unflappable, as GAY said, is a great word for him. So sad to only see this fuller picture of him now that he’s gone. I’ve been here 17 years and he has been a fixture throughout. RIP to a true Slap Pal, skate nerd, and by all accounts awesome human.

So true  :( I'm ashamed to admit I added to that noise years ago. I'm sure you could pore over his nearly 25k posts and not find a single negative response, that's incredibly admirable given all the potshots he took.

Tate is synonymous with SLAP, which shows the respect he's earned. His name will live forever here. Thinking about those who loved him, I hope there's something wonderful for Lester on the other side.

rip loaf.   i met him in person when I first moved to the bay 6-7 years ago.  he was always the nicest dude every time.  didn't know he posted on slap, Logged on here to see if there was an RIP post after I heard the news and of course hes an absolute legend on here, makes total sense unlike everything else involved with this situation.  i feel really bad for all the homies that grew up with him & knew him a lot better than i did, truly one of the good guys

Rest in power Tate <3 This one hurts man. I’ve been a poster on here for well over a decade now and I’ve always spent the most time in shoes & gear, so Tate was always someone I looked up to because he was so knowledgeable and was hooked up by so many people and companies. Knowing who he is in real life, this all makes sense now. Seems like he was well loved in the Bay Area skate community.

I’m also all for renaming shoes & gear to Tate’s Corner. Seems very fitting and a good way to pay respects to a legendary pal.

For practical aspects “Shoes & Gear: Tate’s Corner” or “Tate’s Corner: Shoes & Gear”

So sad. Haven’t lurked the shoes or gear section in a minute but it’s sure gonna be weird not seeing him pop up in the conversation there. Always helpful and quick to respond. RIP Tate you will be missed by so many :(

Shipping out of country might be an issue/taxes. If there is some sort of fund to help I'm fine with outright donating the cost of a pack without getting the shipment if that is an option.

Same, I'm happy to send some money on a GoFundMe, and if someone can send me the AI artwork I'll be happy to print them out locally and plaster them on my board.

kind of spooky that his last ever post was "R.I.P." on a memoriam thread.

haven't been on slap long enough to feel his presence, but it's nice to see all your guys' kind words and the impact he had on the scene. life isn't fair and it's just a reminder to live every day like it's your last. RIP BGT

rest in peace tate, caught a lot of shit on here for whatever reason but truly never dished it back or seemed to care all while we sat back and purposefully didn’t post a nine club before he could out of respect. legend of the forum, my condolences to his family/friends.

this one hurts, with my old account I've been on here for over 10 years and Tate's always been apart of that journey. I hate that we've been losing so many PALS lately. I think if anyone were to give any new person a lesson of how to truly be apart of the bloards Tate would be the archetypal example that's for sure. nobody will ever log as many hours or be a face of reason like he was. R.I.P. tate

Gone way too soon.
BGT is a fixture of Slap. Shoes and Gear guru. Felt like I knew him in some way seeing his posts on here for so long.

This is how I feel too, every time I saw his BGT profile pic I knew he was about to either drop some dope upcoming shoe pics or about to spew some gear facts or release info. I made my slap account in like 2012 after years of lurking. I've been seeing his comments for the past probably 14 years or longer. RIP to the realest Pal. I hope his family knows he was loved here by thousands of strangers that shared the same interest as him.

thread title was pretty shocking to read. i was always amazed that every time i saw a cool video and wanted to post it he always beat me too it. seeing the stats below really puts into perspective how much he loved this place.

easily the most positive guys on here even during the most toxic yet fun years. RIP to the friends and family. thanks to everyone who knew him and are sharing stories ❤️.

Damn.
