Darkroom is calling it quits this summer. Company had a suprisingly short run. Can't possibly imagine where any of their riders could end up.

Kick Frankie off AWS, put Jon and Cotie on, Jake Braun on nothing.

Well fuck, this sucks. Their videos were excellent. The shit Jon Clemmons is doing on horrendous Midwest spots is nothing short of incredible.

Man that sucks. I see a decent amount of darkroom decks in the wild. But I live in the Midwest. Clemmons cotie and Braun kill it. Maybe habitat or AWS but who knows since darkroom was like AWS lite

Edit could see some of them on uma?

Damn, this one hurts. I have bought several boards, wheels, and shirts from them. Loved Don's graphics on skate gear again, and that he was doing his own thing. I guess the raddest shit is the shit that gets flushed first.

They’ve had bogo decks and wheels on their site for a while, now.

I never got the vibe that they were doing bad. It’d be amazing if AWS/habitat could adopt their team and have Pendleton do some welcome to the team graphics.

The darkroom video is a good piece of work to have on your resume when sponsor shopping

Another one bites the dust. Gonna be a bad couple of years for mid-sized skate companies.

My best friend was just out west last weekend & skated with Jon Clemmons & he made mention of it; was also skating a Quasi board.

I like Don's art and the videos, but the appeal of Midwest crust is limited and you can't have a specific set be the main image of the brand. At Alien and Habitat the art and video branding was very intertwined and coherent whereas this feels often just like art Don wants to do.

As long as Braun is good, I’ll be happy. He’ll probably end up on Habitat but I’m hoping for more.

Shout out to those who kooked me for adding that this is 10000000% true.

Fuck, man. I DM'd them yesterday asking if they were going to make any more 7.75 decks. I genuinely loved all Don P's art so this really sucks to see. Feels like all the companies I like are going to the shitter, first Enjoi and now this

Y’all care about a brand that has done nothing and only like bc it’s Don? That’s weird.

I never felt like this was one company having trouble selling.

Maybe it’s not fun to run a successful company. I tried running a skate shop and I lasted as long as it took for a couple of guys to come into town to take over for me to hang it up.

Whatever the reason, I am glad they made a lot of people happy when they were around. Thanks Darkroom.

PS- I feel like you could sell endless T-shirts to shutterbugs with a name like darkroom. I wish there was a photographer on their team in terms of full on art world type. Maybe would have made a difference. Too bad.

This sucks. Hopefully Don will still do some small runs of boards like he was before…I love his graphics.
I think the writing was on the wall post pandemic when boards stopped selling. Darkroom won’t be the last to die this year. 2023 is going to flush a lot of deck companies down the toilet.

Kevin Furtado, same guy who runs State Footwear, runs Darkroom… maybe he’s just over it…still sad if true.

Honestly, I wasn't completely sold on the idea of the Don P. era aws reboot until I saw the first video. I really liked the Midwest spotlight and thought the skating was really solid. I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Good team and skating but the brands vibe aside from art was not great. to me it seemed childish graphics wise. flame me
