Skaters with the Best Soundtracks
« on: April 21, 2023, 01:53:34 AM »
Who has the best soundtrack to their skating?

Fell into a Mike Carroll wormhole, and realized he put me on to a lot of shit.

Koston/Gangstarr as well

Shit, Word’s from the Nutrcracker (last song in Carroll’s part in Goldfish “gonna swim in big bucks like Scrooge Mc duck”

In my era it was Carroll and Koston, no doubt.

These days BDK, Tom Knox, and Shane O’Neill are popping.  That’s if they choose their own.  I feel they do

Cromer, Dylan.

Cromer uses quite classic but obvious ‘skate video music’ like Modest Mouse and MBV.

Dylan’s had some bad ones - the HUF Berlin section springs to mind.

the one with the bowie song? that edit was kind of corny but the song is fine.

This man, no contest:

Picture Postcard from the 411 profile to Yo La Tengo in Tilt Mode. The two classic songs in 7 steps, love it all.

Ben Horton (filmer, I know, I know) $lave videos always have an exceptional soundtrack
Baker
Greg Hunt
Chris Mulhern, specifically in Few & Far Between

Other mentions are a Tom Karangelov & Jordan Taylor as they love New Order, Joy Division & Echo & the Bunnymen.

If we're talking about best soundtrack fitted to their skating I'm gonna have to pick Miles Silvas. I swear his style fits the hip-hop/trap music (whatever you guys wanna call it) so good

Bibby skating to KRS-One twice is so on the nose.

Also love the parts where he skates to Van Morrison’s Caravan (FTC Penal Code) and then Led Zeppelin’s Traveling Riverside Blues from the La Luz video.

His last part (self produced) is some underground hip hop im not familiar with but the beat is fresh. Perfect fit.

I don’t care for the song from 5 Flavors or his Static II song for his skating. I like the Kinks but they were so overused between 2000 and 2010 that it feels dated to rewatch parts that use Kinks.

Andrew Reynolds has the best track record of skating to good songs and that's a fact.

Mason Silva is the young upstart.
