Who cares what the latest trend is outside of skating.  Just wear what you like.  It’s not that complicated.

Still have quite a few pairs of the Reynolds G6s left. This shoe fits my feet so well. I’ve skated three pairs I think. Very long lasting shoe. I’ve skated a bunch of other shoes in between but am always stoked I still have a good supply of these still left.

Stoked on hearing about the forthcoming vegan offerings. I’ve been trying to mostly not buy shoes for a long time and if I do, focus on buying vegan ones.
[close]

Those are so damn tasteful.  I always messed with the black ones but that burgundy/red looks great.
[close]

I can't be the only one who thinks these are weak as hell... They're not 'dope'. They don't have that super-ill fresh factor of OG skateboarding. They look like regular person shoes. The shoes of someone who plays acoustic guitar or something. They're corny. That's my problem with all Emerica shoes, they're not sick enough to be Emerica.
[close]

What does 'dope' or 'super-ill' even translate to in terms of skate show design? Every era of skating has their classics and they're all different every generation
[close]

Wearing any shoe from Sole Tech over the age of 17 is just not acceptable.
[close]

Caring what shoes other people wear so much that you make up an arbitrary rule is strange, right?
[close]
Emerica's not my favorite but that comment is fried especially when nike dunks and adidas shelltoes are the shoes of choice of actual 17 and under people.
[close]

Hey man if you feel ok wearing those thing as an adult have fun with that. But comparing a timeless shelltoe to a dusty ass pair of Emericas seems fair...
[close]
I'm rotatiing between blazers and last resorts right now and prob won't buy emericas anytime soon but tying someone's maturity with footwear is actually more juvenile than wearing emericas.

Well interesting choice of shoes to be wearing given you you disagree with my statement so adamantly.

So I am immature? Cool attack me man you really burned me with that one. But yes you should mature as well as your clothing/style. I do not believe this should include wearing these dusty old "core" skate shoe brands at this point, they look just as bad as someone in skechers imo. Take a look at the 30 & 40+ crowd hanging on to only wearing these "core" shoes. Are we also going to say to wearing "dress" skate shoes with a suit for nice occasion is alright now also?

I think it would be cool stock up on a shoe you love. I wish I had done it with a few favorites that are no longer available.

I've been skating the emerica vulc slip on and they are my favorite slip on I've had. Only thing I don't like is pebbles get stuck in the tread too much.

I wear NB and don't think many look great, but 990's look good and most importantly feel great. I thought the idea of expensive, supportive shoes was a ruse and then got some and they make a large difference at my age especially if I'm walking or hiking a lot.

I've oddly gotten tons of comments on my Tiagos from non skaters.

One thing I think Emerica should do is make a Wino Cup. Not the slip cup, but basically a cupsole Authentic like shoe. Vans Crockett High are like a thinner cup Sk8 Hi and sell super well. This would be a lower equivalent and a lot of people would probably buy em. Direct competitor to the Kyle Walker shoes that I see a shit ton of. I'd try them.

I can like what I like and not think my opinions dictate what other's choices say about their age. Most 30 to 40 skaters I know wear the nikes, adidas, etc that most people go to these days. But I don't think they care enough though to avoid emerica if they come out with something they like and would like to try. I see just as many kooky guys wearing dunks and shelltoes as I do in emericas and etnies. It's almost as if fashion and wackness are two separate entities.

Don't really know how you made the leap from wearing these core shoes to wearing them with a suit but ok.

Yo, @EmericaTM what’s the insole like on the upcoming Winkowski shoe? More substantial than the Omen insole? I liked the Omens but I think it’s time to admit that I could do with a little more cushioning.

It’s got our G6 Foam insole which is the best and most cushioned insole we have for the vulcs.

The Pour-In G6 is only for cupsoles. However, the drop-in G6 insole is great as well.

Anyone of any age can pick up a pair of Dunks or Jordans and look proper in them and that's been the case for at least 30 years or so. The Dunk is super similar to Jordan 1's, which are a timeless shoe as are shelltoes. They resonate way beyond skateboarding. Your risk with a lot of skate shoes is that outside of our little bubble they might be on a different trend wave and look to most like some sort of weird department store brand. It's not unique to Emerica, but right now people seem to be wearing super chunky running/old school running shoes or minimalist LR type stuff. DC suffers from this just as much and an 808 would as well.
This is delusional. And I'm not here in defense of Emerica lol.

Based on your post here on types of shoes that are popular/timeless, you inadvertently made a case for skate shoes actually being timeless/popular like the examples you listed. Even though you claim to argue otherwise. Majority of skate shoes that have been successful have been sporty sneakers, understated dressy or runner inspired, therefore, they contradict your statement of looking like department store models (Fila, RBX, Levi's, etc.) and look like common popular models.

A lot of skate shoes have worn by non skaters. Plenty of Vans, Etnies, and some DC models have crossed over the bubble of skaters rocking them, for example.

Reynolds G6 has dunk vibes, interestingly enough and looks nothing like cheap department store models, so the person claiming they look dusty is someone not worth taking seriously at all

Awesome. Thanks. I’ve skated plenty of Emerica vulcs with that insole and really like it. I don’t see myself needing cupsoles necessarily. A proper insole on a vulc seems to work well for me.

I'm not making an argument against skate shoes. Someone stated that you can't look good in a Dunk or Superstar as an adult, I was just saying that they have survived so many hype cycles that they're a basic athletic shoe staple that you could wear as an adult.

During their reign skate shoes have gone through many iterations and whether or not a skate shoe looks "good" to the general eye depends on how well they mirror something trendy or something more "timeless". I personally don't care what brand skate shoe someone wears and am not one to evaluate these things too much. I like what I think looks good at the time and for my general age/style.

A wino probably works just as well across time periods since it's a basic slip on and those have come and gone out of style enough times to be a safe choice as well.

Been on a few pairs of the KSL G6 at this point. Please don’t ever stop making them. I’ve tried venturing away to some Last Resorts and NB# but the simplicity and comfort from just a flat cupsole with the slightest amount of arch support with the insole -chefs kiss-. And the overall silhouette without being éS Accel OG puffy level looks so good. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments and curiosity from random people at the park, too.

Questions for everyone complaining about how Emerica makes "the same" models and styles - did you buy any of their models that were different?

The Westgate G6s (I know I talk about them to an unhealthy degree but that's because I love them and wish I had stocked up on pairs but it was before I could afford to, but also because it was a shoe I know people talked about liking but people who owned shops on here saying people didn't buy them so that's why it was phased out in favor of the Westgate CCs) or even the Westgate CCs, the Herman G6s, the updated G6 Heritics, the Dissent, the G-Code reissues - what was the problem with those, particularly as (after a small hiccup with the first drop of the Herman and Reynolds G6s) comments were consistent that they were all high-quality and help up well?

Complain that Emerica is boring if you want but then provide constructive feedback if their more unique models don't hit because if something out there like the Westgate G6 sells a lot less than a more simplistic models, we can't be surprised that they're not being more creative or taking more risks with their designs.

A lot of Emericas seem to me that they’d be good alts for old skools/authentics sized shoes - which isn’t really my cup of tea. Curious how the Hsu sold.   That’s been my favorite model of theirs for the past decade or so and the dimensions of a shoe I’d like to see more of.   Winkoskis look promising too as a white shoe/brown shoe Emerica lover

A shower drain hair catcher would be a nice and functional gift for team riders. Maybe make it in the shape of the Emerica "E".

The joke to be made is that none of them look like they bathe

Jon Dickson looks like he bathes in a river with a dog after a long journey

Not just with emerica, but the consumer says “we don’t want more half cab clones,” and then when something like the models you mentioned come onto the scene, they buy half cabs, then a year later wonder why the ahead of it’s time running inspired shoe gets discontinued.
For someone w.no signature ur awfully hostile, & that is why I do this

Been on a few pairs of the KSL G6 at this point. Please don’t ever stop making them.

is someone gonna break it to him

Holy shit you’re bitter!  I kinda love it though, it’s pretty entertaining.  Just wish you would share your “skateshop guy” insights fully instead holding out on us / making us read between the lines!

KSL is going away after the next drop so still some time to stock up.  EmericaTM suggested it was a legacy/throwback colorway so likely something black and basic, which is a small positive in a sea of “how the fuck do you scrap one of your best shoes”

They scrap it because people aren’t buying it. EmericaTM has been pretty clear about that.

I feel like that should be an easy take away without him having to say so.
