Layoff, cutting tech from shoes, kinda lackluster lineup, constant insane sales- I wonder if Emerica is close to closing its doors or ending up some weird former-pro-at-the-helm thing like eS?

Tim, best of luck in your future endeavors. Shitty time of the year to get canned, but you're absolutely right, one door closes and another opens.

Hopefully so they can get their shit back together. Not saying that it worked for eS tho...
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

As much as i would love to like Emerica as my childhood favorite brand, they just seem to keep laying off good people

I feel like Emerica is cheating significant other who keeps cheating on me and after fifth time i just don't even care anymore

No, Emerica is the burnout step child you still let live with you in their 30s even though you broke up with their mama when they were in high school

So, does Emerica get the account in the divorce or do we make Tim a Pal?

Should have signed a prenup! Haha thank you pals for everything it has been a fucking blast and I’ve enjoyed every post (even the negative ones) and chatting with you all!
Appreciate your engagement, as well! It’s really awesome to have a person we can go to that represents a brand, to answer questions or just shoot the shit.

Please let us know where you land.
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

I think there’s good reason to wonder about Emerica’s future.  I know our friend @grassblade can be a little critical sometimes, but I felt some truth oozing through when he once proferred, a few months back maybe, that Emerica wouldn’t be around much longer.

There’s no way. If Emerica wasn’t already dead, it surely isn’t going anywhere now. Etnies puts on good quality stuff still, and ES I have no idea… seems okay.

If anything, MAYBE there’s some truth to Emerica shutting down and being under umbrella of Etnies/ES. But even then I’m still not sure: Emerica has a strong brand image and followers, so even if Etnies and Es are carrying that branch, it’s still a branch that can capture die-hard “never-corporate” skaters.

Interesting thought discussion, though. Maybe Emerica will have a come-to-Jesus moment and realize they should pick one shoe type and just make it the best shoe type that no one can F with. (My vote is on a pour-in g6 slip cup.)
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

100% agree. Only thing I’d like to add is maybe Emerica should be the one to skip pro models for a little bit or only do Spanky / Leo’s since they’re the ogs. Not sure how split or together the funds are at soletech but I’d like to see some of the Es guys get a chance at getting a pro shoe.

Tim’s got video on his story of opening a pair of Gravis’. Aren’t they trying to come back in the market? I swear I saw an ad in Thrasher either the current issue or last months issue…

They've been building something in Japan for the last two years or so. Put a video out earlier this year.

As far as emerica just scaling back to one best shoe they almost did that in 2013 when they kinda restarted and just had the Herman g6 and the new (at the time, current now) laced. Altho that didn't last too long

interesting to go from emerica trying to bring tech shoes into the hesh scene, to wearing two of the most basic vulcs janoski/gravis.

If Emerica stuck to a handful of models, I'd recommend the lineup to be something like this. Bin/halt almost every other model/variant they have. Then, keep simple colors and stop making stupid piss beer colorways. More tonal/seasonal color packs. Fewer models with more focus on productive riders and specific retros done right. All easier said than done, I know.

REGULAR LINE-UP:
Laced (with the padded collar)
Figgy G6
Spanky Hi G6 (or no G6 if they can't do G6 in that one)
Wino G6 Slip (Vulc & Cup)
Dickson
Omen Hi or Winkowski (can't have both imo - maybe swap either of these with one below depending on how the launch of Winkowski goes)

SPECIAL/LIMITED RELEASE:
Provost G6
Pillar
Tilt G6 Vulc
Hoban (maybe swap this for one of the regular models above depending on how the launch goes)
Skater (Leo)
KSL G6
OG-1
Heretic
Experimental models/collabs, etc.

Honorable mention for regular line up: KSL G6 if they weren't planning on dropping it completely :( Such a great shoe like Reynolds G6, but shame it didn't catch on with people...

Unfortunately only half of those models on that list are in the lineup next year.

Looks like Figgy G6 is the last pour in G6, Spring 24.

If enough people were buying it that they thought killing it would hurt the company, they wouldn’t be killing it.

Yeah Tim was pretty about it from all angles and out there with guys daily, I’ve seen a lot of filming credits for him this year too. Pretty stupid to can the one guy actually doing something right at sole tech. He built hype for the g6 sole and gave us the cup sole slip on everyone wanted. Thanks for everything Tim!

Ive been wearing Emerica shoes for 21 years basically (of course, sometimes I went somewhere different). But Emerica has been my first, and I thought it will be my last skate shoe.

I follow Tim on social and for about the last month something wasnt feeling right ( I think he used his vacation days or something, all at once) but I kinda thought this may happen. Since he confirmed the leave here, I have this bittersweet feeling (this may seem a little too much of a post about wearing shoes, but whatever). Emerica is my favourite company of all time, and I just hope that even after they have let Tim go, they can survive that. If they survived Reynolds leaving, everything is possible, it just doesnt look good.

A few pages back Tim mentioned that the Spanky Hi will use the same outsole, but with EVA foam rather than the pour in G6.

I know it’s not the same, but at least it isn’t fully gone.

I just happened to go to Austin on my way to see my family on the east coast for Thanksgiving. I’ll admit I’m pretty curious to see how things end up. Aside from Global Brand Manager, I was also Marketing Manager, Team Manager, Social Media Manager, and even handling most of the video side of things as well from filming/editing all of our campaign videos to even producing all of our short length videos. Hard to say how it’s going to go with all no one running the ship handling all those roles and responsibilities but regardless I wish the best for everyone especially the team riders because I know they are the heart and soul of the brand.

Damn, that's especially fucked they let you go if you were filling that many roles for them. Hopefully you're able to find something else soon. Also makes me wonder the extent to which Emerica is hurting if they're doing stuff like this...
