I wear my wino g6 slip cups at work all day and besides tiagos these feel like the best cupsoles on the market since they have cush even in the underneath part of the toe area. I tried some other cups like the busenitz pros recently and the toe area had pretty much no support whatsoever, only the heel area. Really stupid move how they got rid of the G6 midsole they really were Emerica's saving grace. I will probably get more wino cups or KSL's if I find them on sale just to have a pair or two for backup shoes. Other than that, 1010 tiagos are what I have to stick with, the support is next level.

I hope they do a variant colorway with no logo in the mid section of the upper. Looks like a solid shoe  reminiscent of the Gamma.

Damn I had completely written off Emerica but those new KSLs look intriguing, hopefully they don't take 3 years to release like the Spanky High.

Will it have g6? Unlikely …
I’m a die hard fan, but in that pic the shoes just looks like they’re trying to be an #NB 440. Guess will have to wait for clearer images/ different colorway to really see though.

Which were trying to be dunks.

440 clone sounds like a great idea. Especially if you’re an Emerica enthusiast.

The new ownership is off to a great start, wouldn’t you agree, fellow Slapper?
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

440 trying to be a dunk is a stretch. 480 I can see but they’re still different enough in functionality to be their own thing.

Agreed and it’s popular silhouette style at the moment - good for emerica to give spanky this reintroduction - in for more info.

The 480 came out years before the Jordan 1 and thus the dunk.

Super. Thanks. Now who updated for skateboarding first?

I just think that if Emerica is copying to get more market share, then it’s not a bad idea. (But only if they get the quality up high)

NB Numeric 480 Launch Date

According to the search results, the New Balance Numeric (NB Numeric) 480 skate shoe was originally found on the basketball court in 1983. Later, in 2023, NB Numeric remixed the 480 design for skateboarding, incorporating features such as a reinforced upper, full-length FuelCell midsole, and Abzorb insole for comfort, impact protection, and durability. This re-released version was endorsed by Andrew Reynolds and was considered one of the hottest skate shoes of 2023.

Nike Dunk's Skateboarding Debut

Based on the provided search results, Nike introduced the SB Dunk Low model in 2002, as part of the Nike SB brand, which was specifically designed for skateboarding. This marked the beginning of Nike’s foray into the skateboarding market.

I don't think it's a logical comparison to compare the release of 2 skate shoes that are bball shoe clones from brands that entered the skate shoe market at 2 different times. It's not logical to compare the original silhouette and the paneling of the 480 did inspire some of the Jordan and Dunk designs. Both of those shoes existed as non skate shoes about as long as they've been skate shoes and to 98% of people wearing or seeing them they have no clue which are skate versions and which aren't.

I don't like Emerica but they're smart for letting Spanky design something different from their super basic silhouettes and remakes. Dunno if the new foam is any good but if it is then maybe pivoting their image a bit will be good for them. They are extremely stale for a long time but still have enough support that a pivot could work.

I agree with you. It makes zero sense to draw comparisons when we have a single cloudy image of the KSL. It doesn't look anything like a dunk or a 480, or any other 1980s basketball shoe, besides the fact that the KSL is made from white leather with a toe panel and has laces. If anything, it looks more like a reebok tennis shoe from the 80s.

this discussion is slowly getting back on track but I think the initial comparison @Gray Imp Sausage Metal was making was to the 440 silhouette, which I can see the resemblance to and still am excited to see this new shoe and I’m also excited, as you all are mentioning, for a possible Emerica pivot.

Reebok tennis shoe that is skateable sounds great and a lot of people would like it if the quality/price is reasonable.

I’ve got the Spanky His right now (first pair of Emericas in like 20 yrs probably). I really like them and hope they stay in production with some more colorways. I think I’ve seen Spanky rocking a plain black/white pair on Instagram.

Same here, I really enjoy them, not so stiff, great feel, I hope they release new colors soon
