Fellow g6 cup enthusiasts, the ksl g6 is back on the emerica site for 48 bucks full run of sizes. Just got myself 2 pairs to skate over the summer

yeah, I bought a pair as soon as I saw em on the site, months ago. they shipped using this really shitty shipping service called OnTrac and you can't choose any other option. took a long time but I finally got em. apparently, the company is in desperate need of being investigated because there are nothing but 1-star reviews in my area about how they straight up steal everyone's shit and/or provide bad updates and they never receive their packages. hopefully they get to you safely.

It must vary by region. I bought a lot of dress shirts from Banana Republic and Gap a couple years ago. All of it was delivered by OnTrac by drivers using their personal vehicles. Reading those reviews made me think that I would have to file claims for a couple packages, but they showed up a day or two late.

Not the best experience, but not the worst, considering USPS and UPS lost some of my packages for several weeks multiple times.

Was gonna say the same thing about region. I’ve had the last 2 Emerica orders delivered with ontrac and one order from Nordstrom was ontrac as well. The massive amounts of 1 star reviews had me worried but surprisingly all 3 orders arrived on time without issue. I’m not sure what changed with Emerica though all orders always arrived with ups up until earlier this year

Cheaper to ship using OnTrac but they don't reduce the costs when you make the order itself, so they save a few bucks.

Maybe its just the photos, but those new spanky's are absolute turds. They look like airspeeds or some other non-descript big box 'skate shoe' but with an emerica logo slapped on the side. They have none of the charm of a reebok club c or 80s era tennis/court shoe - aside from the woven label on the tongue. Emerica needs to do better, much better.

Yeah I have to agree, I was expecting like an Emerica version of a new balance 440 or something

Terrible photos with terrible lighting and terrible styling. This kind of shit happens all the time with sports jerseys being leaked and everyone talking shit about them, then lo and behold when athletes are wearing them they actually look good. I'll reserve judgement until I see them in good photos.

Yup plus the all black cw isn’t that great either with those white aesthetics.

Y’all act like this shoe will last more than 3 seasons top. Dropping the spanky g6 for these is baffling.

While these photos are more flattering, I still don't consider this to be a good execution. I find the design quite boring and very cheap looking. More importantly, it lacks the charm and character of the era it’s trying to reference... If it were a faithful, period-correct homage in its execution, I would give it more leeway for the lack of originality. But as it stands, it looks like a cheap shoe trying to reference a past era without understanding what made that era compelling. There is very little here from a design value perspective.

The Reynolds shaped cutout with the logo printed in the middle is arguably the worst possible logo execution they could have chosen. This was a perfect opportunity to experiment with branding, or to just use a bit more finesse and taste to make it look more considered and less of an afterthought.

Clearly they are reusing the tooling from the mute shoe to get more milage out of the molds, but my criticism for the sole remains the same even on the mute - This is just a badly designed sole unit, doesn't matter what upper you out on top of it, from a design and form standpoint - its unremarkable, and not nearly good enough to warrant opening a full size run of molds for.

As a whole, this is not a successful shoe design in my eyes. If I really wanted to be an assh*le, I could honestly nitpick every single decision that was made during the design process. I understand that budget is always a factor, but making a tasteful shoe that gives the impression of value is still possible. It just requires a better understanding of form, and realistically, more artistic talent.

It's still crazy to me that Emerica had Spanky teasing his hightops for years, and when they finally dropped they weren't on the sole that everyone loved and they barely stayed in the line for a single year. I really wanted a pair of those but I feel like I can't justify buying a shoe I know I won't be able to skate again.

Yeah, it was a lot of hype for 3 or 4 colorways, but they could have sold well on looks alone, even after axing the G6 sole.

The KSL III is available:
https://www.303boards.com/products/emerica-ksl-iii-white

NB# should sign Spanky and give him two colorways of the #440v2: one low and one high.
