Those emerica gamma were a definite miss! Potato shape on a weird sole.  The G6 sole version (Julian Davidson) were far better in comparison. They felt wrong so I don't blame anyone not keen on Emerica if those were the main ones you experienced.

Marana Michelin is probably etnies best shoe. I find it odd anyone would call those garbage, but maybe it's more that certain people just didn't like them/it's not built for their preferences, rather than the quality being bad. It's one of their best designed (material-wise) and best selling models. Their flagship, like Dunk for Nike or 306/1010 for NB#. Those Michelin soles are some of the grippiest/most durable out and the suede is usually quality. I've skated at least 8 pairs and they all lasted 3 months minimum of near daily skating.

I've pivoted to skating Dunks and Accels (OG and '95) for a little while. May try these KSL 3 soon

soletech uses synth suede which is among the worst materials I've ever felt on a shoe. not breathable as well. the sole might be fine but even the laces were really low quality. they don't compare to anything anyone else is putting out at that price point

Only on vegan/animal friendly models for the synth suede. So do nearly every other big company in the skate footwear industry for their animal friendly models, by the way.
The standard animal suede on non-vegan models is solid quality. Especially on the Marana/Joslin (higher priced/Michelin models), but the budget models are cheaper quality just like any other brand out.

The sole is excellent, not just fine, in terms of build quality. It's literally a car tire rubber compound and competes/outlasts most of Nike's cup soles, competes with 1010/808, 600, 480, outlasts most of Adidas cup soles, etc. I can see not liking it, but it's nowhere near mediocrity in terms of quality.

I think NB# has cheaper quality laces (excluding the oval ones) than most of soletech, personally. Marana also have hidden lace loops to not break laces, which was a favorite feature of mine when I skated them in the past. More shoes need those!

To say their quality doesn't compete with other brands at that price is disingenuous, not because I'm a fan but because I've skated soletech, Nike, Adidas, Converse, NB#, and soletech has eclipsed or been on par with the others for quality and longevity. To each their own on preferences, though!

imo, these were so much better looking than the ksl 3's. I feel like they were on a decent momentum with some great models within the g6 line but yeah, feels a bit boring now. maybe a new dickson model needs to be thrown in the mix, he's only had one so far.

Sounds like they are getting rid of his shoe soon, bringing back just the wino g6

totally. their g6 cupsole was the best option on the market for a lightweight no crazy tech type of cup. it just worked. the insoles were thin, perforated, and had a little foam insert where the arch is, nowhere near the level of 1010's jabbing into the arch.

KSL G6 was my favorite shoes when they were around. Sadly I only got hold of that one pair.

Anyone on here skate the Hobans? If so, how were they, and what do you normally skate? Been thinking of grabbing a pair.

Maybe the Low Vulc as well..

Got my pairs in (KSL3) haven’t skated them but have been walking in the white pair to break them in, pretty comfy no complaints, and from the top they remind me of the DVS Keenan pro so I’m happy with my purchase, prolly continue just walking in these for a week or so, and then start skating them sometime next week

Been riding the KSL G6 the last couple of days and I’ve got one excruciating doubt: is the switch flick ever gonna get any better? Heelflips feel fine, but kickflips are way tougher to pull off than in any other skate shoes I’ve skated in a minute

Certainly not a 7.5 because that size is nowhere to be found. That's my size and I would like to get a pair too.

Quite embarrassing to know but in one older shoe promos he was unboxing and putting on shoes and it was a size 8 if the box didn’t lie. I am not going to hunt this down because I don’t want my life to devolve to that.

Edit: never mind I devolved to that. Shoe box at the beginning of this. Size 8 confirmed

Off vibes alone, I had a feeling he and Tom Asta were similar shoe size and sure enough they're both 7.5 - 8 after digging that video up ^

I'm continually surprised (even now after 20 years) by how small of stature so many pros are. Many are 5'8" and below and rock 7.5 - 9.5 shoe size. Meanwhile, a lot of us are 5'9" + with 10.5 + shoe sizes thinking some of these pros are closer to Figgy/Reynolds/Ishod/Arto frame.

No shame in smaller feet/frame,  by the way!!

Maybe the Low Vulc as well..
someone made a thread recently about the Hobans saying they were looking for a shoe and were really picky about comfort and that Hobans were actually quite cushy and had a wider toebox that felt nice.

Low vulc is a thin pricepoint shoe and I wouldn't get it unless it was deeply discounted. they'll get floppy after a month or so. on my last pair, the sole separated from the heel after a few weeks and I had to gorilla glue them back together

Could have been me.  I think I put my enthusiastic opinions in this thread and in the 'wide toe box' thread.  People in the wide toe box thread disagreed with me though, so I don't want to push my thoughts if they are in the minority.  My feet aren't particulary wide, but I am a size 12 in most shoes.  With these in 12 I have a bit extra toe room than usual so maybe could have got away with 11.5.  I'm still enjoying the shoes and they work for my odd feet.  I don't do any impact skating so can't weigh in there.

Before hobans I was skating some dunks and before that some og tyshawns.

Appreciate the insights guys. Will have to see if I can find em in a shop to try em on instead of blindly ordering online. Wide toe box isn't my preference in a skate shoe.

Finding myself really interested in the KSL 3. I thought I was sorted for life with the NB# 600 and 440, but I kinda have an intuition about this one being something I would enjoy as well -- especially the suede ones.

Any thoughts on how they compare to the aforementioned NB models?

The Gamma G6s turned out to be the first disappointing pair of Emericas in a looong time. Seemed to have an upper made for a larger shoe size/sole so the toe box started bunching up immediately. They weren't true to size, either.

Think I'm gonna give the Mutes a try. Does anyone know if they're definitively TTS?

I’m a 10 in the nb 600s, 1010s and 440s I got a 10 in mutes and my toes are right at the end it’s more manageable now as they’ve opened up a little for me.

personally I would go half a size up. I have the same problem with vans as well where I need a 10.5.

I like the 440 and KSL 3. I wear 9 in both. The KSL 3 is like a roomier 440. A tiny bit longer and wider.

Just got them and unfortunately they're not tts. Might be able to make them work with other insoles but I recommend sizing up if anyone's eyeing a pair.

Just got my KSL 3's and they are definitely TTS.

Initially a tiny bit snug, but nothing that won't be fixed by breaking them in.

Haven't skated them yet, but they feel nice and solid. Feels like there's plenty of midsole at the heel. Forefoot remains to be seen, needs skating. Insole feels nice.

Overall feel is light and flexible while still feeling like a proper cupsole.

People with wider feet might enjoy this shoe. Feels and looks a bit on the wider side, as compared to e.g. the NB# 600.

Definitely looking forward to skating these.

Yeah, mine (11) are TTS.
I got the blue.
Might be that the white leather runs a bit tighter and needs a moment to loosen up? I've found that with leathers...

Anyone who has had both, how do the KSL III fit compared to the KSL g6?  They look a little more slimmed down.
