ellington was trying out samples for a possible ellinton 1 re-issue but the got bought over and something went wrong so erik decided against it, he told me that he may release them sometime in the future but thru HRS or someother solo project, muska style.
so yeah they really fucked us over, and the samples  he still  has are size 11s and those are for keeps.

The ed 2 reissues were scrapped too and they were further along

That’s a generational fumble.
As shoes go full circle the high end new balances like the Reynolds or Tiago just made me miss my Ellington 1s so bad. Your feet felt safe but you still had a little board feel compared to the non existent stiff feel from NB. What a shame.

Track record remains consistent. The new KSL III is a great shoe. Gonna be skating many pairs of them, I'm sure.

My understanding is that EE is holding off to see how things pan out with new owners.
Ed worked on a Skate Shop Day Emerica project last year under the new ownership.

OG1. Already when touching the laces you can tell that quality is crap. And before that the last Westage shoe in there that lasted me 1 week and toes were visible like x-rays on the toe.

I got the mutes in the white leather colorway for less than $40 and have been working out in them and wearing em whenever I run out to grab something at the store for like a solid month now. they're nice and broken in, similar to accels but less puff, yet still a little more bulk than your average slim shoe these days. I haven't skated em yet cause I might just wait til spring to step back on the board, but I dig these shoes. they aren't the beloved g6 cupsole but they're close enough. they even have a bit of a thicker removable insole compared to the g6 cups that had a very thin perforated insole.

The Spanky Hi looked good and skated okay, but the quality and thickness of the suede was inferior to the #440v2 High.

I don’t know about the quality of the thicker cupsoles, but have only heard good things about the KSL III.

Quality is very subpar. The "leather" interior part of the heel feels like a toddler pool and the feel of the laces is disgusting. Never again.

it was zappos. they randomly will have a shoe and a certain colorway on sale and then the next day it goes back to full price. not sure what that's all about. but the emerica site has a bunch of colorways on sale around $50 I think.

Actually is one of the few shits I can do that are decent.
Hope yours haven't suffered from that broken foot.

As someone who owns multiple colors of the OG-1, some colorways have a thinner "cheaper" feeling set of laces (olive/tan, black/yellow, white/green, among a couple others),  but they don't come untied, and don't seem to rip super fast in my experience skating them. Disappointing, yes, but unsurprising in 2025/2026, no. Even NB# have subpar laces in many of their shoes, so it shouldn't be a dealbreaker, tbh

Some colorways have mesh heel lining, while others have leather. I think the leather feels great (on all the colorways I own that have it) and only felt slippery on initial wears. I'm locked in with my leather pairs once they're broken in. Bummed to see others experience differently from how much I've enjoyed my pairs.

@Gray Imp Sausage Metal some folks may have sized down accidentally? However, I think Emerica's lasting/tooling changed from 2023 launch to 2026. Earlier colorways were more loose/forgiving, but current colorways fit tighter (for some people), and maybe need 0.5 to 1.0 size up.

I had US11 (too small for me, but felt wearable at first) in launch colors, but with later colorways, US12 (my actual size) fits much better and is not cramped at all. That was 50% error on my part and 50% emerica's lasting changing from launch on me trying different sizes out (11, 11.5, and 12). I could get away with 11.5 in the earlier colors, but wouldn't do it again.

Finding your "OG-1 size" may solve that fit issue. My 12s fit like a better Accel OG in the correct size for me

I defs needed to size up 0.5 but screwed because I went through a third party buyer because the vegan colorway wasn’t here in Japan. No choice but to flip them at this point (and maybe gamble on mutes tts ?)

And how is the durability and comfort? I’m 35 currently skating the NB Tiago 1010s great shoe but these things refuse to break in. My work hands out visa gift cards and wanting to try out some new skate shoes.
