Wheel size Poll
« on: May 29, 2023, 01:49:01 PM »
The truck brand poll was interesting. Let’s see what size wheels everyone is into. Please stick to what’s on your main setup. I stuck with just “what size wheel “ to keep it simple but feel free to post what shape you ride if you want. Cheers!

I’m absolutely stoked Spitfire is making 48mm F4s again. I was riding 50s-51s the last couple of years and just skating them extra long haha.

I come quite often back to my 54 f4 Classics, 101.
Some mm worn down so they fit like broken in shoes.
And by the way, i recognize that 99 is too soft for my taste...

54-56mm

54mm SML Mike Arnold big wave model is what I'm currently riding.

I like a wheel with a larger contact patch but still experimenting to find what's right for me. F4 56 full conical spits might have been too big for me in both ways.

99 duro at most cause I'm not riding on smooth ground regularly.

.

I used to ride 56 Classics or Classic Full shaped Spitfire Formula Four wheels and enjoy them most when worn down to 52 - 54 or so mm.

Mostly now it is 54 mm Conical Full, also worn down to around 52 - 53 mm that suits me best as I am not skating the bigger stuff anymore and I just like an all rounder, a little on the wider side, machined off edges to round them down a bit as well.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

After a couple years of exploring various Spitfire shapes, I’ve fell back in love with good old F4 classics.  I have 52’s on my current setup but could rock anything from 51-55mm classics depending on what trucks I have.  53’s might be the sweet spot.

52 or 53. I'll go with 54 if I'm feeling thrifty. I pretty much only skate F4 Classics so 54 is about my limit before the width begins to bug me.

Crazy to think I used to skate 56s on Venture 5.0 with risers back in the day.

I really like Big Heads 52s but I skate better on 52 tablets.

53mm F4 Classics. If Cromer can do it you can too.

53mm is the perfect do-all size for me, transition to street. They are called “Classics” for reason, and I always love them. Radial Slims would be nice, if DLX would get off their ass and make them again.

52 or 53 for me. Bigger definitely has its benefits but the wheelbite isn’t something I’m willing to deal with for those benefits. On top of that I’ve found I prefer lower setups. There was a time I was riding Indy standards with 56mm wheels but I’m currently riding forged thunders with 52s and I’m finding that’s overall a lot better for me.

Bounce between 52-54. Been on 52's the past couple years. Like the weight and easier to go from nose to truck. But I've really been wanting to size up to 56 for some reason.

I'm surprised to see 53mm get nearly as many votes as 52 / 54mm, you always see 53mm wheels sitting on shelves when online retails are always sold out of 52 / 54mm.

Love 53mm, 54s feel too tall especially on steep decks and 52s feel too small too quickly, amazing how much 1mm makes that much of a difference.
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

I buy them 52 (max 54) and love them when 50. The current main set up is in my sweet spot zone.

i usually get new trucks and wheels at the same time. 53s and then ride them till the trucks are absolutely done (wheels are 47 at the moment, i'm guessing they have about a month left in them).

I'm a 54mm man. I'm curious on what kind of terrain y'all ride those tiny ass wheels with sub-52mm diameters and/or small contact patches. I could never make those work on anything but perfect ground.

My all time favorite wheels I’ve skated are the 58 f4 og classics. Can’t find em anymore so I’ve been skating the 60mm classics. I got some 58 conical fulls so we’ll see if those scratch the itch of the og

Never anything below 54's (new), my favorite probably being 56's but those can be difficult for me to come by whereas 54mm is much more common so I usually get that.

I put 56 since 56mm f4 99a classics are my usual wheel.

But i've been toying with 53/54mm classics/radials lately too.

Rotating different wheels is the easiest way to adjust your set up for different purposes IMO. I can ride the same board and trucks, with 60mm or 50mm for a completely different feel, terrain and purpose.

Same, I’ve been riding my current set for about a year and they’re down to 55mm now. They’re coning and I know I don’t have much time left on them.

I got a set of 56mm regular conicals to try out next. Conical fulls seem a little too wide for me
