Most Watched Clips in skateboarding
« on: June 12, 2023, 11:33:47 AM »
weird instagram clips and viral Ritchie Jackson parts aside, what are some of the most seen or view single clips in skateboarding? I was watching Questionable and was thinking how many times Pat Duffys kink 50 has been used in another video, then another Pan B reference the Jeremy Wray water tower, and then maybe a little different but Tony Hawks 900 at X Games. What are some others that show up a lot?

I think you gotta put Rod Mullen in the mix.  a lot of non skaters (people who dont consider themselves skaters nor do they skateboard) are intrigued by him and his freestyle tricks, so I would imagine thatd increase his viewership quite a bit

There's a museum in my hometown which had an exhibition about sports and culture. They had a screen where Chris Coles 360flip attempts down Wallenberg where played non stop. So I guess very much people saw this clip.

Some bam margera and sheckler clips where played all the time when they had MTV shows

Some random ones that have crazy views are Torey Pudwill's Big Bang Part (6 million right now) and Luan Oliviera's old Thrasher Part (around 4.4 million).

crazy how peeps are saying anything but the 900. That was global news. Search youtube for it and the first three clips I can find have 7.3, 12 and 9.5 million views. Then his 900 when he turned 48 has 7.5million.

There's no way any double kink rail or flip down something big comes close.

Wonder if the clip of Brayden Hoban doing that circular 360º fifty-fifty or Evan Mock doing his small loop revert thing will be popular among the kiddies
If my rep is ever an even number, please kindly throw me either a kook or a gnar in order to return me to my odd number equilibrium.

I wonder what the most viewed video in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater game has been. Any of those parts could have potentially been watched a few hundred million times since it was released.

I wonder why the 900 captured the hearts and minds of Americans so much. Why 900 degrees? Why not 720 or 1080? Was there some big marketing scheme that told everyone that rotating 900 degrees on a useless wooden toy was the peak of human physicality?

It's before my time but I'd assume that Frankie Hill's huge ollie over the dirt hill (I think that's what it was) has been rewatched a ton.

Because of the Tas Pappas backstory.
