Thank you Ted for letting us know that a plaza doesn’t evolve from a tree stump. Truly worthy of his PhD.

Epic roast.

I work with folk that have PhD's that couldn't change a light bulb.
That said stoked there is more episodes.

Yeah I enjoy the show and have warm parasocial feelings towards Ted, but I thought that was funny.

Old ledges are the best ledges. I feel like fools use reconstituted ledge material these days or some bullshit.

You ever find a spot and be like oooo brand new blocks. You wax up skate like hell and rippppppppppp! Super slow and the edge looks like crushed in like its a giant sugar cube. Its not fucking granite. Not local at least. The old granite in the sidewalks and in the old spots is second to none and way tougher.

2000s-2010s buildings used that new bullshit

Came here hoping for a new episode

He mentioned on the Mostly Skateboarding podcast that was it for this season, I'm still hopeful for a NY / Philly episode, or a crossover one with various crews for each part of California. Like Sk8mafia for SD and Tiltmode / Louie Barletta for San Jose, granted they aren't the most architecturally interesting parts of California.

Wish these guys were still at it, they were on to something about how where you skate in the world affects how videos look and feel.

Wow I never knew this channel existed and am currently heading down a rabbit hole. Good shit.

Same. That was an amazing watch if you're interested in how geography plays into skateboarding.

I always wondered how conscious filmers/editors were with some of those decisions to make video feel like you were at a place or spot. Some of them seem like it could have been purely circumstantial - everyone in x city always skates x plaza.

I think it would be sick to see something like a video only filmed in Asian megacities were there's a cyberpunk vibe or something. Not exactly geography focused, but some of my favorite videos are probably Colin Read's were they had specific themes.

Any and all footage of the banks is worth watching again.

The only time I ever went to NYC was as a teenager and I remember being very insistent we visit the Brooklyn banks, nobody else wanted to go because nobody else skated, and now it's almost 20 years later and I've never been.

Looks like it could be the Pyramid Ledges, Blubba and the Courthouse. Wouldn’t be surprised with a Flushing ep either.

Best non video part shit on Thrasher at the moment, could watch these all day. In fact, I could just listen to Ted talk about skating all day,  period.

Epic roast.

“Plazas don’t just appear out of nowhere… somebody has to design them!”

Took him 8 years of Uni to figure that one out?

Agreed 1000x.   Also that Kalis kickflip done later on in the area.   Did Ted call it a ghost kick flip?

Yes, which was weird. One of the best kickflips ever IMO.

I figured he was referring to the fact Kalis pops spooky-high, like there was a grate/kicker set up... but there wasnt (at least I think that was the final determination after photos were disected and discussed with Kalis)

Solid segment, mostly for the compilation of footage and less for the historical aspects of the spot itself (I wish there was more, I like that kind of shit).

A neat little addendum piece if anyone is interested:

Watched it for the 1st time this weekend after Puleo mentioned it in "This is a Rental" and found it quite enjoyable, Rick and Buddy usually do it up right.

Oh absolutely.   Coupled with Aquila nollie varial as one of the best looking flip tricks, this was quite the video.

Speaking of Jamie’s long line, was there ever a rumor in your friends group that there was a guy peeing in the basketball court.   I swear it looked more believable on vhs
