Love it. Texas Teddy and Bobby should have a podcast.

I've largely had my fill of early 90's nostalgia pieces but that was really cool. Ted rocks.

I feel you on that. I enjoyed seeing the holes in the bricks from people's axles. That was a nice touch.

I think Ted found his calling. They 100% need to do many many more of these.  LOVE would be the most obvious but there are so many.

i don't really see how this can be considered 90s nostalgia, given they talk about the spot's history far beyond the 90s and touch on present day skating as well

regardless, this is the best thing thrasher's attached their name to in a very long time

oh you know what I mean. Quit being pedantic.

given this piece clearly doesn't exist simply to extoll the 90s with reckless abandon, i genuinely do not

EMB's significance to skateboarding is generally associated with the progression of street skating seen in the early 90's. They state this in the video, even. The fact that they went above and beyond that is what sets this video apart from other 90's nostalgia pieces, which there are an abundance of. Therefore, I chose to compliment this video and even included a brief disclaimer that I believe it stands above other similar video pieces.

This says more about me and my lack of vocabulary, but this is only the second time I've heard the word pedantic. The first coming from George Constanza on a Seinfeld episode. Nice work

Yeah ted almost came off endearing in this

I like the break down of why the architects chose the elements and then how the individual tricks and skaters adapted to those elements.

It's definitely a 90s skateboarding nostalgia piece and it also definitely stands out with its deep dive into the spot's architectural history.

That was awesome, can't wait to see the next episodes.

KQED had an accompanying piece about the series: https://www.kqed.org/arts/13931352/skateboarding-san-francisco-ted-barrow-thrasher?

This is what I’ve been missing from teds retreat from social media . He’s a genuine history nerd and knows a fuck ton about cities he’s lived in skate history beyond the actual skating. He used to post really long stories on the bay areas architecture.  If Burnett had any sense he’d pay to send Ted around the world to do a bunch of these .

That was great. I finally got the chance to go to SF about 7 years ago. I took the BART from the airport straight to Embarcadero and just walked around trying to remember all the shit I watched growing up skating. Then I walked to Pier 7, China Banks and took an Uber to Wallenberg before going to meet my girl at the time in Berkeley. That shit was way more important

This one came from Tony Vitello talking to Ted, not that ding dong Burnett.

Ted has long been obsessed with EMB, so it would be impressive to have him show this level of detail to other spots. Looking forward to it.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

Absolutely loved this. To be honest I mostly knew Ted barrow from gifted hater videos and found him to be fucking insufferable. Rich kid art school vibe off the charts. This was great though. I hope this series keeps going and maybe I need to rethink my anti Ted barrow stance

Only note: could have been twice as long

I would love to see an edit of 90s EMB footage post 94 (or whenever the spot died down).

from some posts I saw on this piece it sounds like there’s more coming eventually.

obviously he has a lot of material to cover in NYC given his time spent there but I was just trying to think of all the plazas world wide he could deep dive into world wide and damn he could honestly have a Netflix show with the level of knowledge and work he’d put into this.

Sick for Tony to get this going with Ted.love this kinda shit .

That was great. Hopefully it's a series. Was cool seeing the original photo of Henry's November 1990 Thrasher cover (my first skate mag).
