I ain't about to watch this dingus talk about his redundant new shoe company for three hours but he honestly thinks this is gonna take off as some sort of lifestyle brand and dudes who wear straight cut selvedge denim and beanies above their ears and own a coffee shop and collect vinyl are gonna be walking around in their Warsaw shoes and crewnecks?
I thought that too when I saw this post

Little beanie workwear baggu GF coffee tote bag zine film camera vinyl workwear vest zine people

Edit: Long Beach is kinda a capital for this vibe so theres that lol lots of cool people I met from that area

I wonder when retail is gonna stop being boutique white cube succulent minimalist MCM spaces but what even is retail anymore

I wish a skater owned endeavor luck but LRABs look more polished and I’m a millennial that still likes simple vulcs which is driven by having daddy dilfs DGar and Austin involved lol so not too mad but let’s see what they got. Logo looks like one you would see on a soulless new apartment complex in any city.

nothing's been the since same

fuck jamie thomas but this is the nth time i've seen this narrative where yall are trying to make direct connections between the name "warsaw" and the holocaust. yeah a lot of it did happen in poland and there was a concentration camp in warsaw but it was (and still is) the fucking capital so is it really that surprising that they built one there? nah this motherfucker was probably like "warsaw is a joy division song and it's also like a combination of war and saw". obviously the song itself is about ww2 but i doubt that that was why he settled on it. maybe the warsaw uprising inspired him? nah that's probably not it either, i'm almost certain it's from the joy division song.

if he really wanted the nazi vibe he'd call it kl warschau or fucking auschwitz, yall are reaching just to shit on the dude and it's not like i want to help his case but it's irritating to read, sounds like yall think it's a little village with a concentration camp in it but shit's older than the usa, there's a lot more history to it than just ww2.

the name may be a little tone-deaf but i would never make this connection in my head
[close]

Dude, he clearly chose the name based on the Joy Divison connection. Which is drenched in reference to Nazis. The song “Warsaw” isn’t *about* WW2, it’s about Rudolf Hess’s overtures to England to join the Axis powers and subsequent imprisonment in England.

There is straight up no other reason Jamie chose that name aside from the Joy Division reference. You are out of your mind here.

that happened during ww2, what the fuck is up with this post, you just said the same shit i did and then called me out of my mind

You all are a bunch of sourpusses. Jaimie is cool his shoes kinda look like vans without the branding but they look better and I imagine have better materials. If you don’t like his shoes why not just not buy them instead of massive thread of shit towards somebody most of you have never met?  The hyprocrysim is ripe

Warsaw/Joy Division is the absolute best.

Jamie, I hope somehow, some way, you get a cease & desist from Factory.

Sad to see Austin Stephens, Matt Costa & D Gar modeling this stuff……..

It's all unoriginal, uninspired, and boring. The last thing skating needs is another vulc shoe brand.

When you should’ve retired on the last shred of credibility you had but instead you insist on starting yet another new brand.

I don’t need to have ever met JT to know is a fucking stupid decision and this company will go over about as well as Straye did. It deserves all the shit it gets.

I just think it's funny that people always say we're doing something different and it's always some vulcanized Vans rip off cuz that's what we really need one more of. Fuck Vans can't even sell Van's these days.

Saying Warsaw came to fill the hole left when Gravis left the market is a little delusional.

Also saying your target demographic is 27-55 year olds kinda means you don’t really have a target at all. More so he hopes that the brand appeals to wide enough of a group that he can move the units.

How long before this is basically Zero footwear?

I enjoyed the first hour or so of this episode because he went into detail about how Circa came about etc but as soon as he started talking about his current shit I lost interest. Never thought I'd see the day where I just wear NBs and Jordan 1's but what choice have all these 'core' companies left me with

In the NClub episode he listed all the shops he’s sending shoes to. Can’t remember what he said for IN.

Some of the shops are skateshops, and some are “shoe boutiques”.

It’s honestly hilarious he made a post about not doing his due diligence when there’s a grand total of two shops in Indy. I could have let it slide if he said he was sending shoes to Rhett but he’d still be a dumbass because that’s a whole hour and a half away from Indy.

Probably not, assuming a shop person or affiliate watched and heard the comment about his zone and relayed Jamie's words and feelings were hurt causing said rebuttal.
When you put an opinion out there without much thought expect some backlash. Especially when it's an account of zero you might be ignoring or slandering depending on how sensitive you are.
I don't expect every new brand to be for me, that's why it can be cool to see so many different options, but over the years I have seen tons of money spent to build a brand image and in 2024 it's gonna be a much different game than in the mid/late 90's or even early 2000's when he had some success.
If you want nostalgia to work it has to really be based on what was actually out at said time(reissue decks/shoes) and not just using someones name to lend you credibility. This market is insanely rough at the moment and breaking into it takes a miracle.

The shoes look good to me. I don’t like busy shoes. These look like nicer Emericas which is probably my fav shoe company. Emericas are starting to look stale though. They haven’t really changed in 20 years. Id actually want to wear them out to dinner or something. I think he made a good point that there’s a hole in the market left by Gravis. Gravis had their own vibe, not just another vans knock off. They were a little more modern and stylish. I like that he does’t have logos plastered all over the shoe but no visible logo at all probably  isnt a good business move either. But I don’t know, maybe that makes them more intriguing. People will have to come up and be like what are those?

Also a little rude when gravis is still going and basically doing what he wants to do but with a team and videos already altho it's Japanese.

It seems like you're trying to present it as if Last Resort AB started this trend, while other companies had already begun moving away from visible branding on shoes earlier, like Gravis during the Dylan era, which JT also references. I personally associate this shift with Dylan, who rejected heavily branded, logo-covered products and preferred unique tailoring and good material quality. I think this reflects a more mature mindset that resonates with an older demographic, so Jamie is on the right track with his new brand’s target audience. For me, too, it’s more important to buy a product made from quality materials than to have a logo visible from across the street. I’m glad someone is finally paying attention to sizing as well. I find it baffling that even the big brands (Adidas, Nike, NB) often handle this carelessly, and I frequently have to return shoes due to sizing issues. The 'X' stitching on the side panels is a subtle detail that isn’t flashy but gives the shoe a unique identifier. It seems to me that JT pays special attention to good material usage, and I hope we’ll see some similar, unique materials in the next drops, like what was characteristic of Gravis shoes (blue wax canvas).

I also have no issue with the name choice; I think it makes perfect sense, as Jamie explained. I feel like many people are just here to hate and are looking for reasons to amplify their negativity. It’s a shame that some are already writing this brand off as a failure (or even hoping for it). It seems to me that he has learned from his mistakes and is trying to grow both personally and in business. I see that he speaks with enthusiasm about this project, where he has done and continues to do a lot on his own. He’s funding this brand himself, and it seems he isn’t aiming to be overly ambitious but rather to offer something to a part of the skateboarding community. And who knows, maybe there’s demand for a brand like this, alongside Hours (and I won’t list all the other similar brands).

The “X” for “anti-corporate” and yet there will be no team and these will be sold in boutiques? When people were theorizing how evil sportswear brands would operate once they’d won over enough customers for their skateboarding lines this is shit that they would dream up.
