I’m really not enthusiastic about this, but if I can get some brown/gum suede Cats that are like 75% there I’m not going to be able to pass them up.

Peter Sidlauskas said it best in his interview with Say You Swear podcast.

Everyone wants these nostalgic companies to return until they actually do. The brands worked in their hey-day because of context (time and place). The reboot of Aesthetics, Axion, e’S, Krew etc has just come off as stale and odd because the industry adapted to their omission and moved on into other directions.

We should all just remember it for what it was and what made it special.

This is true.
But, I have never had better backside flips than I had with grasshoppers. Something about the flick on that shoe was special

The Axion reboot gets shat on often around here, but the shoes actually skated well and were made quite well.

Funny the guy who says this has no problem doing multiple collabs with DC, who have done a complete 180 and are going back full on with the nostalgia for their shoe lineup and skaters.

And fwiw Ipath for the most part does have some timeless shoe silhouettes since they're just skateable versions of other popular shoes with better materials. They could only bring back cats and grasshoppers for all I care and I'd be fine with it.

any reboot needs to include Grasshopper and Reed Mid

last reboot wasn't too bad in retrospect... but nostalgia always has you seeing things rosier than they were at the time

http://www.irnsuperior.com/catalog/catalog/Fall11_catalog_lowres.pdf

I can't recall seeing these around here, how expensive were they? Those materials look pretty premium. I'm starting to think this could have a chance in the "disposable income, I used to skate" demographic, perhaps even the "office during the week, skatepark on the weekend" scene
take what small comfort there may be left
seize what you love and damn all the rest

They were  really good. I had 2 pairs of grasshoppers and the coffee reed mid back in 2012 when these came out. Had to do some digging for these pics. Peep the cracked iPhone 4 on the right.

Cats, Grasshoppers and the Karl shoe.

That's all they need to do right, and they're set.

Yeah. Imagine if they kicked everyone outside of Philly off the team and never evolve past ledge skating, they'd definitely go out of business. But no, not the case for DC, the beacon of progression in skateboarding.

reboots are always shit, but i would buy a pair of grasshoppers for sure.

completely missed out on i-path at the time - thought it was some lame plastic rasta thing. didn't really know who was on. in retrospect, one of the best teams ever.

Not to derail the thread,  it while Peter Sidlauskas got name dropped here.. I just wanna say this real quick.

That dude needs to answer his emails and honor his word. Ordered a bunch of Bronze shit over the years, and last order was for a bunch of sets of hardware. They sent me less than I ordered, so I contacted Peter (as that’s who the contact email directs to). Peter said he’d get on it, and correct it, but never had/stopped responding to emails.

I also have friends that ordered more substantial items that they never received. Also, the change to small hardware heads from the old large heads is bunk.

Anywats, Back to your regularly scheduled IPath discussion.

the only real sign I've seen of a younger generation being remotely interested in this brand is the hack circle trend.....
