Sweet lil line at a park. I think watching Aimu skate now (irl) is similar to Penny in his prime, a once in a generation talent.

Because skateboarding is hard and despite not being able to achieve it, you want an avatar in the skate industry that looks and skates exactly like you would like, to represent your aesthetic ideal and vision of skateboarding.

I thought he was dropped by éS

Even éS wouldn't be so stupid.

Actually they were going to make him the face of the company, but after seeing how they treated Tom Asta he decided to move on.

If I have to be honest I felt he looked better skating éS shoes as well.

I'm pretty sure I heard Kelly Hart recently repeat....'nah..we lost him...' referring to e's.....

Yeah I'm sure he was thinking...'They dishonoured Tom...I must avenge.....'

I mean, if what Tom said is true about the payment situation, I wouldn’t want to be made the face of the company either. To go that far just to repeat the same process that you saw someone else go through is foolish.

Aimu ain't no fool. Good for him. Also for us if it means more footage through NB, they've been producing pretty reliably.

Aimu is probably too good to ever be SOTY though, like Busenitz or Louie.

Exactly. If it means we get to see footage of him in edits throughout the year and (hopefully) a welcome part, I’m all for it. Even if the production does feel overly polished, I’ll still enjoy seeing him skate.

Are these  extremely skilled kids japanese actually moving products? Are they suffering the brazilian curse of being super good, but not very marketable? yes yuto is a special case, and so is tiago, but there are so many good skaters from both countries just below their level that doesn't seem to land on the right companies etc. If Aimu would have been from the US he would be the poster boy for Nike or something. just an observation.

Yuto doesn't seem very marketable to me. That hair cut. He needs to start smoking cigs or sum ha. actually, that's why he has so many corporate sponsors bc he has no edge and is the definition of brand safety.

Aimu is always smiling kid is 10x as marketable IMO his personality looks projected into his skating. i do hope his seminal video part isn't edited to some forgettable mumble rap track.

i was looking into buying es sophistos because aimu looked cool in them, but then he quit for NB and i avoid the brand so i got the es shoes anyway, but a different model. i think a lot of people love him, but he has an unlucky set of sponsors, primitive is wack, nb only cool in that little thread in shoes & gear, i don't even know what homeboy is

Pretty handily the most uncool out of that who-is-who of uncool sponsors.

Drat, my vision is really taking a shit, apparently now I need readers to watch a skate clip. I kinda assumed it flipped since it was off a curb into a mellow bank too.
