I’d actually like to see him pull some NBDs at some boring well-known landmark spots.  We know he can 5050 a kinked rail anywhere in the country.
i mean he did fs blunt frost double kink.

He's always been solid on the board. Cool project. The VO was a little much but I dug the pace, filming and editing.

That was a funky fs flip at 6:06. They probably could have cut the scooter trick and the Manny Santiago appearance.

Fuck. That footage could have had major rewatch value, he killed it. Hopefully they do a rough cut.

Yeah a rough cut will probably do this the justice it deserves. Great skating.

I feel like Arto set the precedent of skating the middle rail.

Totally gnarly still, just not the same NBD feeling since I'm sure that side has been partially FS blunted before

Really liked the edit.  It was something different, and I dug the theme.  Skating was great.

It's cool seeing guys like this, or Blake Carpenter, who I think might partied too hard for a bit (I think, not super sure), but now they've got their shit on track and producing some fantastic skating.

Seeing Dakota’s progression the last several years has been great to watch and in my personal and biased opinion nobody deserves this more. From getting sober to putting out constant coverage with so much passion and determination, it’s exactly what you’d want in a rider. Stoked there is now a signature Emerica shoe with Dakota’s name on it. As mentioned in here the 180 grind to fakie back lip and roll on grind to front blunt to switch back grind fucking ruled.

this is beautiful.

i thought it was awesome, that being said it reminded me an awesome part of a transworld video that my little skate brain watched less often because of the pacing.  that doesnt make it not awesome, but the replay factor isnt really there unfortunately
where is home?

In the world we live in, where page 2 of this board is forgotten in one day, I respect the desire to create something unique, to try to go beyond picking a track & making a ‘Zero edit’ that would rip but largely be forgotten.

I get that for some of the voiceover may have been tedious, but I appreciated attempting to weave a little bit of context and storytelling into what was an amazing display of skateboarding.

I think the intro was a bit long and it felt weird there was that great Ollie over the yellow poles in that part.  Scooter trick wasn't needed.

Other than that it was rrally good.

The Matrix just glitched, because I swear he did in on the inner rail.

could have been a real banger with less b roll, no voice over and one banging track

edit : really dumb to use footage this good over the most mondain and played out skateboarding quote. It's some mickey taylor and prod type thoughts. It's okay to have them but you don't need to share them with the rest of the world in your big part, just keep it for your out there video.

Is it cringey? Sure. But it's not like I expected a John Searle soliloquy.

To me, the problem is not in faux-introspective voice-over. Even some of the b-roll was cool. I completely agree with trying something new, because if everyone pleased our expectations - we'd be having the same part over and over again. With slight variations in pantaloon looseness and facial hair density.

It's just the lenghth. Skating is undeniable, but if trimmed to, say, even a bit above 6 minutes, it could have been THE SHIT.

Will replay it still, though.

The voiceover/documentary style goes back to early surf/skate films:  https://youtu.be/H8tUzieWV2U?si=dKadyVj8WieQxWEu&t=263

Then into 411, Transworld videos, Menakmati - it’s just part of the genre.  It can be cool if it’s done well.

Incredible part, the guys from Emerica still manage to perpetuate the soul and the way of skating from the 2003 - 2010 era, I still take great pleasure in watching big gap and rail with a little touch of innovation and a very rock n roll style. I like this type of skater in love with country/folk music, it remains really "raw", maybe because I grew up in the countryside haha.

I probably like this whole part because it was the type of skating that I I loved and discovered it mainly in my early years.

Last year we had the excellent part Leo Romero, this year, Dakota! Thank you and stay gold until the end!

This video has a soul.. I much prefer a video like this than a part with "tricks, tricks, tricks..".
