What is the cause?
[close]

Why does that matter? He's gone, we lost him, it won't make anyone feel better how it happened. It took forever for MF Doom's cause of death to be released and there was so much speculation it was drug related or suicide but it turned out to be a horrible reaction to blood pressure medication. I read about that and realized it wouldn't have changed anything if he was massacred by Indonesian pirates.
[close]

Oh get a grip. It’s normal for humans to be curious about things like this. Plus, if it can bring awareness to head injuries then even better people know. Save your virtual signaling for some other forum

agreed.

Always loved the clip where he does regular 360 flip and switch 360 flip down the same gap. RIP James

RIP to James and condolences to friends and family. his skating will live on forever

head injuries are no joke, seen lots of footage in videos where guys hit their heads hard and pay it no mind. if a friend hits their head and doesnt look ok at all, shut them down. concussions can compound easily and cause life long complications. I have friends from playing hockey growing up who had multiple concussions and are stunted with health and mental problems one way or another today. Its not just skateboarding late to this awareness, major sports are guilty as fuck for hiding the CTE consequences and passing "seeing stars" or "got his bell rung" as normal incidents. retired NFL and NHL players are frequently not healthy in retirement and many pass to early from complications or suicide relating to CTE symptoms. NHL is slowly turning a page on this, but its taken many controversies and deaths of former players and still has a long way to go. be safe out there and watch out for your friends and fellow skaters.

Can’t believe a seizure was what took him. If you’ve seen his post on instagram it’s really hard to watch. I spent 3 nights in the hospital after a concussion so please everyone be careful if you hit your head. I’m lucky it’s been only two concussions in my life. Definitely needs to be brought up in skateboarding. I’m thinking of Pedro Delfino and all his head hits.

Just remembered i have a hand-me-down Real Hardy board tucked in the garage somewhere... should dig that out for a wall hangar...

Been thinking about James all day... I was explaining the situation to my GF and was tearing up the whole time trying to describe the man's legacy - kindness and gnarly-ness

Gonna do some nosegrinds and fail at some nollie 360 flips for him today </3
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

I'm still in shock, I understand that he had injuries but it doesn't feel real when someone so young dies. Rest in peace.

My heart dropped when I read that James passed. Are autopsy’s required for this sort of thing? Would be interesting if he did in fact have some CTE going on. This really needs to be a bigger conversation and brands need to step up and provide insurance, this independent contractor loop hole is BS.

I don’t think an autopsy would confirm CtE.   I think specialists would need to examine the brain to make that conclusion

Hardy was one of those guys you watch skate and you're like "damn, must be nice."
🌹🌹 🌹

Well said, I rewatched his line (FS 180, Fakie Flip, Fakie 5-0) mentioned in the Heckride interview and it was beautiful:

Quote
Has Jamie ever tried to get you to do a specific trick or re-do a trick?

The only time he ever did that to me was for this line in Ride the Sky that ended up being one of the best things in my part. I went there just to do the Fakie 5-0. Did it once, then was told let’s get another angle. Then it turned into me doing that trick around 11 times. At that point I had Fakie 50-50’d a similar stair set count and he said, “If you don’t do it in a line we won’t be able to use that clip”. This is the only time I ever got hot over this kind of situation. It took a while but I did end up landing the line (Fs 180, Fakie Flip, Fakie 5-0). I remember going up the stairs to him and I high fived him as hard as I fucking could. He ended up getting pissed even though I did try to break his arm. In the end I thank him for that because that line is one of my favorite things I’ve ever filmed.

This story is amazing. Can you imagine how bad that must have hurt? James Hardy trying to break your arm with a high five?

Albert Madrid died too?

I thought the same thing, any truth to this?

I'll never forget the switch boneless 360 at ATL four.

This shit with James has me all worked up inside, never knew the man but he was a good friend of mine. My heart hurts and the concern about concussions in my own life is real. Having had multiple concussions as a young child, I can't help but think it contributed to my mental health issues and seizure disorder.

People saying that using helmets is not cool, but it would be much cooler if James Hardy was still alive today, because his death could be avoided if he used helmets.

I found his IG and he hasn’t posted since 2017, but there is one comment saying RIP from yesterday.  Can’t tell if he died back in 17 or recently.
