Skate companies and skate podcasts still operate in a very outdated bro culture, boys club, way and that's how something like Trasher posting that horrible Dane clip flies. It's like Packer talking to Michael Scott, just laughing it up.
Even AI knows this stuff. "Estimated Male-to-Female Ratios for Top Skate Companies":
Birdhouse: Primarily male-dominated, with a likely ratio around 90:10 (male) for sponsored skaters.
Chocolate: Similar to Birdhouse, with a possible ratio around 85:15 (male).
Girl: This company has been more progressive, but the ratio is still likely around 80:20 (male).
Zero: Historically known for a hardcore, male-dominated team, with a ratio likely around 95:5 (male).
"These estimates are based on the traditional makeup of these companies and the skateboarding industry as a whole. The actual numbers could vary, especially with recent efforts to include more women in the industry. If you need more precise data, looking at specific team rosters, company leadership, and recent changes would be necessary."
Also, not a single female podcast host or cohost in skateboarding still?
Why would Tony Hawk choose Jason Ellis of all people as his co-host? Why have The Nine Club had 6 different male hosts/cohosts and even every guest hose has been male? Maybe they thought Kelly's female sounding name would make them seem diverse? Why does it matter? Because skateboarding seems more like a male fraternity and you know there's a lot of skeletons in those closets.
Skating has made a lot of headway with race but still has a long way to go in other departments.
