Getting a kick out of watching every MAGA politician and influencer complain about the Virginia vote passing the new districts.

The funny thing is they're not condemning gerrymandering in general or supporting the bill that will outright ban gerrymandering, they're condemning Democrats doing what they did while also doing it in a democratic way.

The crazy thing is the Texas SC denied the maps because it was deemed racially discriminatory (which it was). So when SCOTUS ruled on the Texas redistricting battle, the stay was granted based not on the defense of the maps being discriminatory, but that the intervention is happening too close to a primary election cycle. SCOTUS MAGA knew the maps were illegal but let them stay on a "technicality" of timing.

I'm not stoked on this. Personal vendettas and lone wolf kooks are not replacements for justice. Trump needs to face a fair trial not be attacked by some dipshit with a half-baked Rambo plan.

These attempts are bad for all of us. They create potential for innocent people to get hurt, weaken the right's ownership of domestic terrorism, ratchet up already tense feeling the States, they create sympathy for a callous, corrupt, and dangerous president, and the NYTimes photo from the attempt in Butler, PA is a powerful photo (it doesn't matter if the bullet grazed his ear or he was scraped in the dog pile after), it is a powerful photo. And the Butler, PA attempt took the life of someone in the audience.

Also, what did this guy think he was going to do? Ninja warrior his way past the Secret Service? How did he think this had any chance of working?

The news is reporting he was a tutor for a standardized testing center. I wonder if he cracked after being broke as fuck despite knowing he is technically capable. I think to get the job at one of those SAT prep, MCAT prep, or whatever centers you have to score insanely high on the test yourself.

Edit: The attempted shooter published a game on Steam years ago. The preview video for this game makes me feel sad. It is just so nerdy, awkward, and likely represents so much effort. I wonder the backstory is going to be for this guy. I imagine super depressing.
