Rollerbladers are now our allies. A rare sight and the breeding population is too small to be a threat anymore. And they are not scooterers. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Tampa pro is worse than the olympics

There’s usually enough good skating that goes down to make up for it but it really does have a gross careerist/parasitic scene around it.

Liberals gone crazy. . Running Obama versus Trump each for a third term is fucking idiotic. There’s no such thing as a third fucking term making it possible subtracts from democracy.

I can’t believe that people even thought of this shit.

Not really. He seems like a good human being. Just not a fan of his skating. No hate, just don’t like him where the rest of this board loves him.

He's got some of the best pop though.

Especially in regard to his flip tricks.

I may have already said this but I can't remember. Also not sure if this unpopular or not, gloves are wack.

I don't care who you are, or what you're doing, how rough the ground is, or even how cold it is, gloves have been creeping into footage a lot the last few years and it always looks terrible.

Maybe I take back the bit about the cold - if it's like, sub-zero cold and you're wearing the whole shebang of cold weather shit it's ok.

Also, I would accept lace gloves.

I think that a lot of the time when you see pros wearing gloves are actually the padded stuff kinda how jaws did the 25 with gloves on. I think its just a way to wear pads, but without cramping your style too much Hip pads and the the fp insole body protection/hip pads stuff are really popular within the pro circle because of that reason too.

It's some bizarro world shit that the skate consumerism model has gone from "this company is cool because they support the community" to "the community should support this company because they are cool".

I don’t know, I’m probably conflating Tampa Am and Tampa Pro to some extent. I guess I’ve seen a lot of local ams and “barely pros” and their hangers on who make a big deal about going there to rage and get 241st place or whatever. It just seems corny.

Like, if you’re Ishod level - awesome, go rip it up. Otherwise…

People talk shit on FA becoming too watered down and generic, but I think they're actually doing great especially if you compare them to 90's/2000's brand that are still around. Look at Flip, which had a bunch of landmark videos for their time but became fairly tired and had lots of their best riders leave by the mid 00's and it became a mall/contest brand shortly after. FA isn't the Supreme incubator it once was, but I'd take Curren/Jake/Louie/Ave doing their thing sans modern Nak over what Flip or Element became. Same goes for Polar, which doesn't have the "magic" they had with their first vids, but again they are doing great with Emile, David, Oski, Roman, etc. and are still pretty true to their basic graphics/image even tho Big Boys blew up and got played out.

I like FA and their aesthetic and am looking forward to a full-length (?) but it always bugged me that they have been around for this long and haven't "discovered" anybody if you look past the ams they launched the company with (they kinda were the pros) and Beatrice (no disrespect ). Romel Torres seems to be the first am addition in over a decade and they stole him from Habitat. It's like they're too cool or lazy to put in the work of finding new talent and building relationships with flow kids. All the great companies spend energy on finding and fostering the next big am and if FA is struggling as a brand this is part of why

On transition, backside blunts look better than frontside blunts.

If backside is easier then why do so few people have a good one?

I skate regular foot, but if I see a big patch of ice, or maybe I'm wearing socks on a slick hardwood floor, and I run and slide across it,
I do it goofy foot.
The first time I realized it was on a big sheet of ice in my work parking lot.
I ran and slid all the way across it and when I got to the other side I wondered "why did I do that switch/goofy?"
So I reset and ran at it again to try sliding across regular foot and man I ate shit after sliding like 2ft, I had no balance.
I guess I'm regular foot across all board sports but goofy foot only in ice sliding. What up with that?

Is that normal? Does anyone else switch stances across any different...like...instances of sideways locomotion?

Some people are regular on a skateboard and goofy on a snowboard (and vice versa).
It was weird to me at first but it happens and it works well for those people

Getting unsolicited advice isn't that bad. I don't know why people say they get annoyed from it.

Even if you already have the trick and you're just having a bad day / are hurt or something and someone asks if they can give you a tip, you should still listen, because it may be something you've never heard of before. It may even make you think of the trick differently and you can improve it.

Plus you get to potentially make a new friend or something

I still don't give unsolicited advice though, too risky

I'm the same when it comes to scooting across ice like a child again. My style is probably less all over the place like that too for fuck sake.

Idk. In this health-conscious era, balancing out your hips and back is probably more important than ever.
