DBX and Flight and whatever are a step in the right direction but we should have all been on hoverboards by 2015 already according to the prophecy.

Peak false advertising calling that thing a hoverboard. I mean I guess it hovered for a while during that trick but it's not even a board!

the term "cool guy" says way more about the person saying it than whoever they're applying it to

what’s cool guying exactly? that term seems to flip flop and reshape it’s definition from person to person

It's basically "acting too cool for someone else" - either their presence, what they say, whatever.
It's the skateboarding equivalent of mean girling someone.

not possible in skateboarding because half of skateboarders are awkward af and would accidentally be a "cool guy" this way, just because they're too shy or whatever

As a large gentleman that has a tendency to stomp that MFer, I very much disagree.

I’ve been really bummed about the seeming demise of the “Impact” deck (there were Almost, Enjoi, Madness, a few others making them) They had a vertical plank going down the middle. I can easily break a board any time I skate (just cracked a brand new Chocolate today!) but I never once broke an Impact deck.

Come back! Please!

Thankfully they still sell old inventory pretty cheap online. Time to order a fresh new Caswell Berry Enjoi board!

They're still being made, I think recent Ryan Decenzo 2Cents boards and TJ Rogers Sk8Mafia boards have the Impact insert.

I feel like resin construction plus a little carbon fiber was a solid, worthwhile improvement over a regular 7 ply without stepping into that realm of $100+ future bullshit boards.

nah dude different shit, P2 had weird fiber disks under the truck bolts, another addition to the ever growing list of stronger boards/better pop gimmicks.
If I remember correctly, the P2 shtick was that you'd be able to slide longer due to less surface area on the rail/ledge...

P2 were basically the same as the Powell boards they do today. No discs, just one sheet of carbon fiber or whatever that was, on the top ply.

Good boards, but Flip shapes back in those days were terrible. I had one, supposed to be an 8,5. Bullshit, it was 8,5 maybe just on the top bolts before nose, it had crazy taper.

I think it was an Arto board, this one:

Ah OK, I thought you meant discs like in those Almost double impact boards. So we were talking about the same thing, just differently.

Anyway, I would skate a P2 again, if it was on a normal shape that didnt feel like shit. It lasted a long time.

As a hefty boy I back any new tech for impact or carbon fiber to keep deck from breaking.

I've had a few impact almost boards, P2 flip decks, VX creature deck as well as Real heavyweights deck's. As a 260lbs man 2013 to a 210lbs now those decks have held up. Do I think the gimmick is corny? Fuck yes, but being frugal for being a on team big boy I'd highly recommend it. I still have a Real HW deck somewhere in my quiver of deck's. Mainly for shit rain deck but it's held up since 2019.

I had a purple p2 flip back in the day, I think they all had the same bullseye kind of graphic, and I do remember it being better then a regular board.
My fave “tech” I’ve bought recently was a Kevin braun everslick Santa Cruz board like 3-4 years ago, only complaint is it got real soggy and heavy feeling toward the end but it lasted like 2 months longer than a regular board would and it never cracked or anything just turned into a wet rag

I'm the same on Frankie, it comes down to the fact that I simply don't like egg shaped boards, colored wheels, and essentially a Zero 2000's influenced trick/style selection.

On a separate note, does anyone remember the Flip decks that had the crinkles in them like a Ruffles chip? I thought those were P2. I remember my parents saved and saved and got me a Lib Tech deck for Christmas one year and it had the worst pop/board feel you could imagine.

I can back this, however aside from his Zumiez kit and such his tricks remind me of a leveled up Louie Barletta.

If that helmet wearing weenie Andy Anderson or Todd Falcon have a platform so can Frankie. What about that mustachioed loser Ritchie Jackson or Simon Woodstock?! There's plenty of other's that have even stinkier trick selection.

100% and I think franky deserves to be a pro skateboarder - he’s just not for me. He’s galaxies away from a Richie Jackson. I like andy andersons presence in skateboarding as a spectacle and am offended by him being referenced along side of richie jackson and you calling him a weenie.  >:(

Frankie at least has tricks. If we're on the dickies team slander, the appeal of Jake Hayes completely escapes me. The slow mo, high popped tricks from the side is corny. Deathwish makes no sense on him. Andrew Brophy gives me the same vibes.

I was only referencing AA as he's got some corny freestyle tricks that I'm not impressed with. Maybe I haven't watched enough of his parts idk. Ritchie Jackson is a fluke gimmick like Simon Woodstock.

Yeah I bet most people on here could list 100s of pros who are stinkier than Franky, me included but I still don’t like him.
