Yes, but the thought exercise made me change my opinion slightly.

- I like Palace as a brand but their board graphics don’t do it.

- I used to like Polar, their stuff is very uninspired now.

- I liked the first run of FA, from start to around the first batch of Gino graphics, since then it’s been a lot of decent boards, but nothing great.

- Magenta has been doing the same thing for about 12 years now.

- Same with Hopps.



…Then I thought about Quasi, a company I love. They occasionally have decent stuff, but most of their graphics look like slop. Then I remembered their “I survived school today” graphic, which is hands down the best board graphic of the past 10 years.

I just hung that Quasi deck last night haha. Ive been struggling since I got off insta and I dont check quarterly drops anymore so I feel more out of the loop as far as art direction. I like Strangelove but I liked Paisley more because I really liked the aesthetics and consistency cliver did with incorporating the paisley pattern into his graphics.

This may be hard to believe, but there were no online army’s or faceless posters cheering on one person or bullying up on another person. This aspect of social media - the digital ease - of being able to attack people and bully them online is not progress.

I’m just personally not a fan of negative criticism and critique it’s just pointless. It’s ruined music. It’s proven to have negative effects on all parties involved. If you don’t like something find something you do and hype it up. Thats what I spend my life doing, however, seeing Gifted Hater get sponsored and rise to fame, with his online army of fan boys - is real depressing to me. I’m guilty of my own crime here. Negativity breeds negativity. It looks the same as that straight white online incel army people like Nick Fuentes have. It’s the polar opposite of diversity in skateboarding.

I can only hope that now it is recognised for the classic I've always seen it as, I definitely used to see a lot of hate for it in the few years after it released. No joke I'm really happy if it's no longer a controversial opinion to share though.

Baca was fucking 16 in the video and has one of the best parts along with Ragdoll, Lizard and Slash.
I think we all knew Pig Wood wasn't going to last, but seeing 3 of those guys get picked up by Baker was cool as fuck. I've loved Ragdoll since Blackout and his Digital part, but I've got to also mention Adrian Mallory too. Always had a soft spot for his shit since Slaughterhouse.

It's like the sponsor me tape for the Baker/Deathwish people post Baker 3 gang. I loved it! It's amazing to see Sammy Baca rocking the skinny jeans AC/DC rocker style and then go cholo baggy as fuck later on in life.

I can only hope that now it is recognised for the classic I've always seen it as, I definitely used to see a lot of hate for it in the few years after it released. No joke I'm really happy if it's no longer a controversial opinion to share though.

Baca was fucking 16 in the video and has one of the best parts along with Ragdoll, Lizard and Slash.
I think we all knew Pig Wood wasn't going to last, but seeing 3 of those guys get picked up by Baker was cool as fuck. I've loved Ragdoll since Blackout and his Digital part, but I've got to also mention Adrian Mallory too. Always had a soft spot for his shit since Slaughterhouse.

Not a huge fan of Slash but he definitely refined his style after the Pig era. This part made me dislike his footage for a while. Terrible push, no pop rocket flip shit. Slaughterhouse is enjoyable despite being filled with this kind of skating, I guess that’s the charm. But I never understood the Slash hype.

In the 90s there was no social media. Yeah there was shit talking in magazines and in real life, but you dealt with real life consequences of running your mouth. Bill Pepper got “most annoying skater of the year” award and he walked into Thrasher and punch Phelps in the face.

This may be hard to believe, but there were no online army’s or faceless posters cheering on one person or bullying up on another person. This aspect of social media - the digital ease - of being able to attack people and bully them online is not progress.

I’m just personally not a fan of negative criticism and critique it’s just pointless. It’s ruined music. It’s proven to have negative effects on all parties involved. If you don’t like something find something you do and hype it up. Thats what I spend my life doing, however, seeing Gifted Hater get sponsored and rise to fame, with his online army of fan boys - is real depressing to me. I’m guilty of my own crime here. Negativity breeds negativity. It looks the same as that straight white online incel army people like Nick Fuentes have. It’s the polar opposite of diversity in skateboarding.

Slaughterhouse remains, to this day, one of the single best and most enjoyable skateboard videos of all time.

I thought it was a classic back then when I first got and rewatched and rewatched the DVD and I still think so.

Do you like the 88 Footwear video Destroy Everything Now? I think of it as the best "rocker" video of the era, with the coolest team and soundtrack. Slaughterhouse, Baker 3, & Cataclysmic Abyss have some gems but it seemed like the emphasis was more about playing dress up.
