Also I remember Jack Sabback left Traffic because Stereo was a better paycheck. Which seems crazy to think now.
Traffic paid people?

and there's like zero evidence of him even being on stereo now besides an an introduction video or something. kinda crazy. they just shed riders left and right

Dune not so much. He is not alone in this but it seems many companies are started/ continued as a personal need, not a market need. This is fine but the amount of people doing this probably hurts the industry as a whole.

IMO one of the big problems with the “industry” is that there are sooooooo many old dorks like Dune hanging around trying to avoid getting a real job. I mean this is a huge problem everywhere, you see it with Andrew Tate’s “Hustler’s University” and myriad dropshipping scams, etc. I don’t know why it’s so prevalent in skateboarding except to speculate that immaturity and a fairly low barrier to entry fuels endless delusion.

The idea that Stereo Skateboards should exist to sell anything other than Jason Lee merchandise is laughable.

Some people just prefer to hustle and be self sufficient I guess. Maybe he’s making money, maybe he’s in a load of debt (I hope not). As long as he’s not ripping people off and providing seriously low quality product then it’s whatever really - how’s it much different from people having etsy stores for their art or clothes etc?

I guess you could argue so many of these legacy type of companies with no team or unpaid pros could be detracting from other current pros board sales but I think that’s a stretch considering the market for legacy brands would be pretty different anyway

I just remembered that Josiah Gatlyn was on the team for a couple years. I’m pretty sure that was his the last stop before leaving pro skateboarding once and for all.

i've had a couple and they pop up from time to time. they're 1/3 of the price of a normal usa deck and decent quality, so that's probably the reason. i had a jason lee aviator reissue and it's one of my favorite skateboards i've ever had graphic wise. wish i didn't skate it. when i was 14-15 i remember loving their berrics public notice edit, minus the jordan hoffart part. that section where they skate to clash's mustapha dance is sick and i like that version of that song more than og rock the casbah because of that video.

it ain't no visual sound, but i only saw that video way, way later, so this here was my stereo and i liked it for what it was. also stereo was my first sponsor in tony hawk's project 8 and i used to play that game a whole lot when i was beginning to skate so there's some nostalgia too. the first skate companies i've learned about were the brands they had in that game so i thought stereo was as legit as it gets, along with wahoo's fish tacos, horiboards and black plague wheels.

Confirmed. Wahoo’s fish tacos are in fact as legit as it gets.

Haven’t searched the thread and hopefully Matt Rodriguez got some love on here. His loose trucks are also as legit as it gets.

Speaking of Jamie Thomas, did Zero ever hire that art director that was going to be paid in decks & free rent in the warehouse bunks?

There IS a reason why it’s called scream’n chicken after all; but from the sound of things, it appears you’ve already figured out why.

i know they were recently looking for an art director, maybe they're trying to revamp their situation? There's definitely a pathway for it but do they have skaters in mind and how much are they even willing to spend? Kinda dicey if Chris and Jason are at each others necks.

According to the Stereo Instagram, they are "closed for renovations" and multiple posts have been made about no access to the site. Commenters asking for refunds and Stereo (Chris) responding that he won't have access for another week or possibly two weeks to give those refunds. Their shop is run through Shopify, and you should be able to access orders simply by logging in. Even if you take down the shop for one reason or another, you still have access to the account and can restore the site at any time. It's not like a professional website with a server and dedicated webmaster. It's very easy to get everything back up and running.

As far as not having products to fulfill orders due to the holiday rush going back to mid November, Stereo mostly gets their boards through Prime. These aren't the same in-house boards that are for the 90s reissues; these are all China boards that the Prime owner imports and distributes through his secondary brand to shops and skateboard brands. He usually has 10s of thousands of blanks on hand at any given time. For Stereo to be struggling to get boards to fulfill orders seems very unlikely. Prime is partly funded by Jason Lee, yes, so there must be some sort of disagreement between the three guys.

Last time I remember seeing anything Stereo related is when they turned John Lupfer pro years after he'd put out any footage
