Here's an MSN conversation me and my good friend had a couple weeks ago, about quitting smoking. He brought up lots of good points, and I figured it would be helpful to anyone trying to clear their lungs and minds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin says:
i never wanted to fully quit, i just wanted to regain my tolerance and not feel like such a drug addict
Kevin says:
so to smoke once in awhile would be cool
dan... says:
yeah but.........
dan... says:
that's the shitty part, you're one or the other
dan... says:
abused the shit...... fuck man...... I would love to smoke the occasional cigar or something, on special occasions
dan... says:
but I know i can't because I abused the shit
dan... says:
I smoke one now..... I'm back in
dan... says:
too much man.... we took too much
Kevin says:
the thing in this case is, i have one bowl left, and i really have no temptation to buy more.. so i know that either way, I'm not gonna call up my dealer, not today, not tomorrow...
Kevin says:
it's just, do I want to finish what I have and enjoy it or throw it out to prove a point
dan... says:
I don't know what happened to me..... one day just like every other stupid day that I said I'd stop smoking...... I stopped......
dan... says:
the first three days fucking sucked, but one becoming better then the other....
dan... says:
Now I dunno if it's the contents and effects of the marijuana or cigarettes.. but work and shit...... is becoming less and less shitty.....
dan... says:
I have more energy than ever man..... more tolerance, more patience, fucking tons of motivation.....
dan... says:
I never thought that work, especially shitty esso gas station work could be easy.... not like holy fuck this sucks
dan... says:
bringing me usually to a point where I didn't go, or quit
dan... says:
I dunno if it's the cigarette that are gone that effects my body this way..... or maybe I dunno something in my brain changed....
dan... says:
but I feel there's no longer that on going "struggle" I used to have.... and god damnit it feels fucking great
dan... says:
no ask yourself what do you want ?
dan... says:
Do you want the self-gratification of being in fucking power man....
which sometimes doesn't feel worth it at all....
dan... says:
like right now with the smokes
dan... says:
I don't feel as good as I thought I would..... I have to think about it a long time.... but then it clicks
dan... says:
The Effect Has Become the Cause dude
dan... says:
You smoked dope to fucking feel good and shit......relax or whatever...... and now..... even though it doesn't look or feel like it...... the reason you can't relax or feel good is because your not high..... you can't relax because of the weed
dan... says:
The Effect Has Become the Cause man
Kevin says:
so true
dan... says:
so what do you wanna do man? Smoke that shit? And fall into the same rut? Or have that nice feeling..... of being closer to getting rid of that shit
Kevin says:
I just don't feel like finishing my last bowl is gonna set me back that far. If I didn't have it, I wouldn't smoke it. Tomorrow I won't have it, so I won't smoke it. Same with the next day, and the next day, until the day where my tolerance has been somewhat regained, and one of my friends wants to get baked and go biking or eat out or something
dan... says:
well...... if that's what you feel like doin'..... do it!
Kevin says:
I think that by stopping for 9 days, I've proved to myself I can put it down when I feel the need to.
dan... says:
But from personal experience.... the values I gained from extinguishing my "habits" or "addictions"
dan... says:
are fucking priceless man, priceless
dan... says:
And I'm telling you.... get away from that for a month or two
dan... says:
then you'll see dude, then you will see
dan... says:
nine days is what?
dan... says:
Nine days ain't nothing
dan... says:
Your just holding yourself.... you ain't letting go
dan... says:
I love how I worded that!
dan... says:
but it is true.... 2 months..... then you'll see the difference
dan... says:
Baz Lurhmann " The race is long and in the end it's only with
yourself"
dan... says:
Everyone has habits or addictions that they have or don't have to change
dan... says:
some people die from em'..... and some people can tolerate the shitty effects of em'
Kevin says:
You're right, but that's if I wanted to fully quit. I still want to occasionally enjoy it, recreationally. It may not be the same as quitting, but smoking it with friends once every week or two is a lot better than smoking it all day by yourself.
dan... says:
yeah but you've been doing that a long time.....smoking everyday
dan... says:
in order to unseed an abuse such as long, you gotta drop it for just as long
dan... says:
it took a long time to get where you are...it'll take a long time to get where you were before
Kevin says:
srsly...
dan... says:
yeah
dan... says:
anyways I gotta go get some supper
dan... says:
Later Flava Flav
dan... says:
Flava FLAVE!!!!!!
Kevin says:
peace out homeslice
Kevin says:
i'll save this convo for when i have the urge to call up the dopeman
dan... says:
do it up
dan... says:
later
Kevin says:
laterrrr
