so whats the secret to manuals?
i got an exbox 360 and the game yesterday. i seriously can't figure out what to do. im using the right stick and everything but the only time i manage to land in manual is when im not trying.
the game is amazing though and worth the price.
360 inward heels are easier than tre flips though.

its real touchy, you just barely push it forward, not all the way... just like in the middle.

what about timing, do you do it just before you land? or anytime in the air?

i think it's right about when you land

basically the way it works is if you push all the way up or down they will squat for an ollie but if you push it 1/2 way and hold for a sec they go into a manual.

aghhhh see i had the tony hawk mindset where you just tap up, not hold it.
makes so much sense now. thanks man. weird i never even thought about that. i just kept tapping up and would get pissed like what the fuck? this is supposed to be easy!

You pretty much beat the game in half an hour? I really doubt that.

I personally like how the goals aren't super regular. Tony hawk you had to spell out someone's name, free ten caged birds, and stop the crucifixion of christ.

Is the Vancouver Skate Plaza in the game? I've had a really tough time actually finding any Vancouver spots, where are they, I got this game yesterday and still havnt seen the whole city its massive, but i want to find some more Vancouver spots that are recognizable, does anyone know where any are?

There are some curvy ledges down a path that are vaguely reminiscent of the super popular one in Vancouver, other than that I don't really recall any Van spots. I think they just kinda wanted to make the levels inspired by, without including too much reality. IE The Res having Frisco hills, Old Town having BCN-esque architecture, and Downtown being kinda like urban Van I guess.

from the looks of the videos, gameplay looks all robotic or something. is it better in person or what?

Just learned some tranny last night and it felt so good to be able to do just a normal 5050 grind on tranny in a video game and have it feel right. Still can't go frontside or do any lip tricks but the little I messed with it was really fun.

it doesn't feel as robotic as it looks in some of the videos and if you get a good line or trick you can replay the clip of it from different camera angles. I've noticed that for each trick there are usually good angles were the trick look good and bad angles where it will look not so good.

But overall I think it looks and feels great when you play. I think a lot of it may have to do with how you control the skater. For example, the frontside filps I've seen in the promo videos looked really robotic with a perfect turn. But I did one yesterday over some mail boxes off this bump and did it so that it was a 90 degree kickflip, then caught, then final rotation which to me is less robotic looking and more realistic.

Also with the over pop on grind\slide tricks, it seems like you could control that by poping less but I haven't actually tried that. I'm still struggling to just hit the ledge\rail with the right trick.

say your regular and your comming up to a rail frontside. ollie, do nothing with the right stick, then bring the left stick down to the left a bit, like you were doing a manny with the left stick but to the side. to feeble, just get over the rail and bring it down to the left. its touchy so dont bring it to where the stick cant move any further. to dip a smith more just bring the right stick forward. i was fooling around and did a smith to feeble in one motion

ollie at whatever your trying it on.. and turn 90 desgress.. then push up on the right joystick. should put you into it. then when you're in it.. hold left on the left joystick for style points..

are there ANY cheats for this game? i'm not into actually beating games.

Did you play the contest though? You have to do something awful like a Christ Air backflip to come in first.

i haven't really done any of the missions because I assumed it'd be like that. pretty much just find a cool spot then get the filmer to film so that I can start from the same place over and over again and then just try a line. pedestrians can get a bit annoying though. be nice if you could pull a GTA to clear people out the way.

yeah, i've been working on a line at this one spot that has both a front and backside option for first trick so if someone is in front of one I go for the other and basically try two different lines depending on what's available.
