does anyone wear glasses here, and skates with them?

i've had them for about four years now , my vision has been bad for a while

seeing more clearly feels like it helps my skating, although it sucks sometimes when you get sweat on them, have to stop skating and wipe them off. i'd still way rather have glasses then contacts though.

i have to wear mine all the time , they usually go through a beating and i need a new pair about every year or so

always liked bespectacled skaters, scott johnston, josh falk, jeremie daclin, jack sabback, anybody know of any others?

I used to have them, then got lazer eye surgery a few years back - if you're short sighted it's really worth looking into as it works

A few of us (glasses wearers) used to randomly bump into each other at events (guess that's what comes with being short-sighted (joke)) and form a mini-crew of spectacled ones; good times!

They never caused me any real problems apart from breaking them (and myself with them once) - though I used to hate it when it rained on them, or I walked into somewhere warm from the cold outdoors and they steamed up

That's the worst. Apart from that, and getting hit in the face with a football, I haven't had any problems.

had them since 2nd grade? my dad is a carpenter and brought home a 3000 dollar laser. He told me not to look into it, but i did. Degenerated my eyes ultra fast. I rock contacts when i skate though. My prescription is at -7 each eye.

2nd grade, my teacher asked me why I wasnt getting any questions right anymore.
I told her because I couldn't see the board.
She's like "Oh, come as close as you need."
I walked right up to a foot away from the board.
My eyes are hella bad.

Holy shit! I can't imagine -7. I'm -4.5 in each eye and I can't see shit without my glasses.

However, I can't skate with them to save my life. Have to wear contacts. I'd really like to get laser eye surgery though. The main reason I haven't is they say you can't wear you contacts for two weeks before you go in for an appointment to see if you're a good candidate and if you are a good one, you can't wear your contacts for another two weeks before your surgery. So depending on their availability I could go a month or so without skating. Wouldn't be to hyped.

How much did that cost you? And have you noticed any negative side effects or anything?

I know several people who've had Lasik. Not one of them has complained. They all however have had to have 'touch ups' after a few years though.
Several years ago, to go to someone 'renowned' in the field and have both lenses beamed was about 3-5k. Mind you this was several years back and with a 'renowned' Doctor of eyeballs.
It should be less expensive today.

Only personally known one skater with glasses, and he ripped.

all my girlfriends end up wearing glasses in one form or another. i.e. reading glasses, or everday glasses. i don't know why I keep attracting the myopic types?

i'm -6 in my left, -4.5 in the right. i choose to rock contacts, but i'm looking into lasik. i can't even imagine how much my life will improve. i started wearing glasses in the 2nd grade as well, and they just keep getting worse.

fuck eye surgery...if the surgeons having a bad day, youre permanently blind. definitely not worth it. i stick with contacts, glasses feeel weird to me
