I just bought a few AWS decks! Two are still in the wrapper (Dill and Salazar Warhol decks) and I don't want to damage the plastic, so rethinking how I want to display them.

My Rodrigo Tx wall

He had a guest board on Preduce that would make a great addition to that wall.

Imagine actually thinking that old Mexican men who don’t skate think about this while pressing literally thousands of skateboards every day.  ;D

What constitutes a wall deck?
« Reply #1550 on: November 17, 2021, 04:53:01 PM »
I have a pablo deck in my size thats been staring at me from my wall since his passing. As much as I want to keep it there, I can’t help but believe he’d think its really stupid to hang a board on the wall and not have fun skating it.

Really brings up the question, other than limited releases, what differentiates a “imma skate this” deck from a “wall art :P” deck?

I bought them because I like the designs on them. So they’re cheap art. If it came down to it I would skate them if I had no other option.

For me the brand and style of deck factor in. I feel like most decks I hang are from more ‘fashion’ or non ‘core’ brands that might emphasize art more than quality of deck to skate. Or maybe a shape or size that I dont usually skate- so there is not a temptation to take it off the wall and ‘ruin’ it. Then again, there are some graphics that look better with scrapes, so I hang them after I skate them. If the graphic and quality of the deck are both good I’ll get two: one to hang and one to skate. I just grabbed two of the Paul Grund ‘Nicole’ Polar decks for this very reason. I couldn’t decide to hang it or skate it…so…why not both!?

If I'm gonna skate it I get two. Most of my wall boards I had to buy again so I could skate it

All of my wall boards are special to me for a reason. None were purchased for aesthetics but I make them work

For me, it's related to the percieved value and accessibility of the bloard, namely if it can be easily replaced for a reasonable price.

There are three types of decks that will be forever reserved for my wall or a future possible sale if things get rough: (i) autographed decks, (ii) decks that are out of print/otherwise definitely somewhat the last of its kind, either due to the rider passing away or switching companies/retiring, and (iii) decks that are one-offs or had limited runs.

Everything else laying around in my vault is pretty disposable and is just a wall bloard until I decide to skate it or it subsequently legitimately meets the above-referenced conditions to be designated as a historical wall bloard.

Just my two cents. Idk Pablo or his personality (never met the man) but I go to sleep under my wall of bloards imagining that all the riders I have wall bloards for are as neurotic and stricken with ocd as I am and would desperately beg me to preserve their precious bloard lest it go extinct in the outside world and I become the only person holding this unique piece of their contribution to skateboarding history.

But who really cares, no big deal, I guess, ride the bloard, whatever...

The skater in me wants to say skate them every time, the investor in me says hang on to as many special boards as you can.

Funny enough i was gonna buy the grund deck so i could save the pablo, its dirt cheap rn on swarehouse and that shape on the 8.6 looks sooo good. How are you liking it so far?
