I will say be wary of advise you get from skaters as many wear shoes that are too small. Conversely runners often wear shoes that are a bit big. I have no idea how to fit into vulcs, I don’t think there is a single one on the market that feels good on my foot. They always seem so long and pointy but if I size down they cramp my toes. Cupsoles with toe room and a boxy silhouette fit my feet much better so I run dunks.
This plus the advice above about measuring feet correctly is top notch.
As a whole, skaters seem to favor shoes that are too small. And it’s a mistake. I did it. I did it for soccer/cycling/life. Wearing a shoe a little bigger feels weird for a little bit, but goes away. Your feet will be significantly less damaged as well. And you will thank those that lead you to bigger shoes when you are older (you won’t, but you’ll wonder what the fuck you were thinking with smaller shoes once you are forced to change by old person foot syndrome).
To those that think they must have the smallest shoe for performance: nah. Try skating without socks, or with those absolutely DISGUSTING looking/feeling toe socks. Amazed at how that helps to feel more connected. I don’t do it often because both are gross and now I just wear bigger shoes and don’t care, but both methods do have positive performance attributes for me.
