brought out the '99 Oreo IV beaters and the sole started crumbling within minutes  :'(

DAMN. Sick tho. Sole swap candidate? Upper looks decent enough. Toe shape so much better

Yeah 20 year old rubber will harden and just are horrible to skate in.
[close]
please make a fucking thread already and I won't click it..those marnell's look terrible but whatever floats your boat. I'm obviously not skating 21 year old jordans, after all this is the "post the shoes you're wearing" thread not the "I'm insecure so I have to justify buying fakes" thread. support your local and buy your skate shoes there.

in response to jay nev- I've definitely considered it as they retroed in '15, it's too frivilous an expense at the moment though
[close]

If I was insecure I wouldnt be sharing that I skate in reps. You just seem unclear on the behavior associated with insecurity. Stop asking me questions about it and I will move on. You can make a new post, or shut up and move on.

so funny to suggest someone else make a thread on behalf of your knockoffs

Its better than dealing with multiple private messages about it but I dont want to. But Im done talking about it. Move on weirdo. Let me help you

Etnies Marana low. Very solid skate shoe, long wearing with a nice stiffer sole. Not too wide, not too slim but a tighter fit than usual 9.5s

I know my Etnies and those have to be around 5 years old and don’t have the Michelin (2017+) soles, but they’re sick! Like the deco stitching on the toe.

Out of curiosity, why do reps make you so angry? Were not telling people to sell them as legit, just skate them. Are you just trying to be a dick or do you actually have a rational explanation for your anger?

Just finished with my own pair of Gatos, definitely agree that they're amazing shoes. They didn't last too long, the sole's almost got holes it it as well, but they were great while they lasted. Maybe I could shoe goo them, but I don't like the look of shoe goo and I'm spoiling myself this year with shoes and boards.

Next up are this pair of Lakai Newports, the Nico Hiraga colourway. I'm a little concerned because the heel of the left shoe has no support, and despite the shoe being the proper size and laced up tight, the heel's still slippery. So...I hope it works out. They're real comfortable otherwise and have the look and feel that I like.

EDIT: Just had my first session in the Newports, and unfortunately the underside of the right toecap was scratching my ring toe and pinky toe the whole time, and now the skin on my toes is raw and sensitive. I'm wearing the same socks I always wear, nothing's changed except the shoes. I had to stop skating because I didn't want to make things worse.

I don't know, I want to keep supporting Lakai but their quality is so hit-and-miss that I'm kind of over it. The Griffin was bad, the MJ was bad, the Fura was good, the Staple was great, and now the Newport's bad so far. Maybe it'll stop once the shoes are more broken in but if they keep cutting my skin I'm done. Just being honest.

Those counterfeit shoe manufactures are economical leeches often related to money laundry schemes/crime organisations/child labor/don’t pay taxes/don’t care about innovation and the list goes on...

[close]

These are all true of Nike & Adidas.

I guarantee the bootleg Jordan skate shoe factory has a significantly lower pay gap between highest and lowest paid employees than Nike or Adidas. Those workers also likely have a better chance at organizing their workplace than in a Nike factory which they can just close as soon as a union is formed.
[close]

Dude, glad you can guarantee me with not knowing nothing at all.
Adidas and Nike doesn’t even own the factories, and they only work with the ones that live up to their standards, which are pretty damn high. Don’t you think they have human rights entities up their ass inspecting everything?? I’ve been in Asia for basically 3 months in total, I’ve been in the factories, I saw the production line, Its the same shit as any other industrial factory in Europe I’ve been, Most of the times with better machinery, because of the all the technical stuff they need to make, 8h turns with thousands and thousands of people changing seats. The workers had masks, water bottles, ventilated rooms, etc... Also the wage gap doesn’t mean shit. You can have an basically inexistent wage gap with everyone getting a shit salary. I’m sure the counterfeit factories respect all of the rules cause they ain’t evil right??

The only reason their conditions improved was because of pressure in the 90s and 2000s from consumers coinciding with labor organizing in the factories. the only reason they have made their production less harmful for workers in some ways is because it harmed their bottom line. and yes when i say "nike factory" i mean factories which nike contracts to manufacture their products.

the counterfeit factory sucks for the same reason the nike factory does. the factory exists to extract wealth from the workers working in the factory.

my point is that buying nikes over counterfeits is not more ethical because they're both inherently exploitative workplaces. And so long as Jordans are $90, there are going to be counterfeits. It's naive to think individual purchasing decisions made in a global market are going to effect the conditions on a shop floor in china.

I have and they're not bad, but they're not top shelf (in my opinion). As a lakai shoe and a modern slim cupsole, I think they're a 6.5-7.5/10 and will likely please most skaters that skate vulcs or modern cupsoles. A good middle ground between the two. They're pretty flexible and have a great flick but seemed to wear down kind of quick in some areas. If you like modern cupsoles that are still comfortable and flexible, you might like these.

My newports took really long to break in nicely, but after that I loved them. I think it needed 2 weeks of walking around and 3 sessions to really break these in.

I loved the look of the Newports since the Theories collab, but I've hard nothing but bad things and major heel slip.
Many shoes heel slip for me, so if somebody else is saying it, I would probably have a terrible time with them.
I tried the Owen XLK slip-ons and they just felt off. Not a terrible shoe, other than the elastic ripping 1st session, but they just felt ok not great. So far, when I buy Lakai I get burned more than not.

I actually grabbed the Lakai Hawk Protos for $20 from the-house in the jordan colorway a while back and break them out some days and theyre very good to skate in but dont love the looks, dont hate them though. More roomy than typical slim skate shoes. Nice grippy and not too soft sole.

Found these on sale at my local shoe store for 15 bucks. Not a big fan of Danny Way whatsoever and these are a bit bulkier than what I’d normally skate but for only 15 bucks I could look past that.
