I went back to the suede cons and am enjoying them way more than the first time I tried em years back. I think the key was to go a full size down from what I wear in vans... flick feeling wonderful

These are what I’ve been skating for over a year. So good. They also last a lot.

Surely been asked before but the cons 70 aren’t from skate line right?
I wanted to try cons again but in canvas (+ shoe goo) and I’m debating between the 70 and the chuck mids.

70s aren't skate range but I always prefer them to the skate cons range. I find them a slightly more stable version of the shoe for some reason.

I've had the 70s lows and highs in canvas and both have been fantastic.

The cons skate range is grippier obviously and have the cx foam insole but I've always skated better in the 70s. Also you can find 70s on sale all the time.

Last resorts also feel like a grippier converse 70 to me and that's why I've been alternating between them.

Thanks man. I’m gonna try the 70s then. There are a bunch of different colors too which is nice.

How do you do it tho? Do you put your cons skate insoles in them or skate them au naturel?

Edit: also sizing will be the same as the ones pictured above right?

I bought these Gammas almost a year ago then went on a whole "only skating in vulcs" trip. I've come back around (it was the 440 that did it) and these actually chill and skate nice.

I’ve got some 70s, I went a full size down from my regular size, and I should have gone 1/2 size down. They look cool. I haven’t skated great in them. They look cool. Surprised at how durable they are. I skate better in cupsoles, generally, so my experience there isn’t a reflection of the shoe

I skate them with the stock insoles. I'm not jumping down anything too crazy so they've always been fine for me. They're removable though so I guess you could put others in there.

The outsole is a little shiny to start but once you wear it in the flick is really good.

1/2 size down I'd say. Full size down might be super tight so I'd stick half size

Yeah I got a pair for my best friend when they were on crazy sale at the beginning of the pandemic and he skated them for like half a year and loved them from what I remember. I think it got him to buy another pair of DCs himself afterwards.

Before that he was one of those guys that just skated whatever cheap vulcs he could find.

Bought a pair of 70s for my girlfriend and I agree, they look so damn good. Always been a little curious about how they skate... Bobby D runs them. I'm an ollie hole burner and I'm usually patching my suede shoes long before the sole wears out, so I'm considering getting some of them even though they're canvas.

Plus, the high foxing on Chucks does wonders for my ollie and limits the wear on the sidewall in my experience. Other shoes I've skated last a week before rips start to show... my current ctas are getting to the point of being beat, but the suede is still intact.

I recommend them! use to skate them a bunch during the first two years of college. The 70s don’t disappoint. Plus you can usually find them for cheap on depop. I’d say go for it, especially if you already like the cons chucks

Current pair of Joslin 1s.

I've been on a steady diet of this shoe the last couple years. This is maybe my 10th pair. But the first Vegan pair I've had. Pretty much the same as the suede. They were a little tighter during the initial break in period than the suede. But not enough to warrant sizing up. The flick was also a little slippery feeling in the beginning, compared to suede. But once they got scuffed up, I can't really tell a difference. I've been skating in these over a month now and they're not wearing down any faster than the suedes normally do.

Dayum you've been skating ghose for a MONTH?

I've been hesitant to get some Etnies purely because of their looks but they also look like absolute tanks.
Might have just go with function of form here.

Yes, they are tanks. Protecting my old busted feet. But they don't feel or look as bulky as the Marana. I'll admit they are ugly. Especially a side view, like this. Look down view is not bad. But I don't care. They fit my foot perfect. I won't be skating in anything else until they stop making these. I always wear the sole bald and replace them before the side ever breaks through. Usually last a little over 2 months. But I'm not doing a ton of flip tricks these days. I do a lot of wallrides, wallies, slappies which explains the collar wear.

Honesty confused by the tiny swoosh on the side of the toe trend Nike is doing. It’s so aesthetically unappealing and feels like a mistake every time I see it. Is anyone asking for that?

This was my first pair of dunks, got them in a thrift store in Atlanta for $15 in 2007.

Almost bought a pair for $120 a few months back but couldn’t bring myself to spend over $100 on 15+ year old shoes .

For their skate line it's new, but IIRC, it's not really something new for them. I think they did that with at least a few running shoes from the mid to late 90's.

Pretty pointless to put them on an area that is going to be subject to serious abrasion. But maybe it's a passive aggressive way one of the designers is getting back at the swoosh?

I agree though, not an aesthetically pleasing placement at all.
