I'm thinking about buying Half-cab pros. That shoe seems to get alot of mixed reviews what are the general cons of it ? Takes time to break in ? Bad board feel? ... I want them because I need some mid top for my ankles and my shop as nothing else to offer in the Mid size range.

They skate really good. board feel and all that other stuff is good too. The main thing that irks me about vans is how fast ollie hole's develop so keep that in mind. However i skate mainly ledges and rails so i guess it depends on what you like to skate. Consider the reynolds high if you want to try something new, because that shoe is durable.

Cut these templetons down to lows. skated them for about an hour, pretty good so far.

Most durable shoe I've skated in a while but somehow managed to start feeling really worn and old after just a few sessions.

It's been years since the last time that I had Vans.
The new paded pro insoles are pretty comfortable.
Have to put white laces because I can't help it.
I'm going to start skating in them right away.

I feel as if this is a contradiction of some sort

The fact that it's a contradiction is acknowledged in the part of my post you didn't put in bold. The suede held up well and the soles haven't gone bald much after 3 weeks of skating but around my second day skating the shoe the suede had that soft and worn feeling shoes get after you skate them for a long time.

ahh I see, maybe the way you worded it threw me off. "worn and old" in this sense basically means "really broken in", which some people hate and some people love.
I wanna try these, they seem like the Cons version of the Koston 1

Sounds like they just broke in fast, which I prefer, but understand why you wouldn't. I love when a shoe starts to soften up and become more flexible. I've been skating this pair of adidas for a couple of months and one thing I don't really like is how firm they are.

I had a pair and they were really good.  insanely comfortable and flexible.  my only gripe was that once you blow out the cons star logo stitching the whole side of the shoe opens up.

finished my 3rd session in the lakai howards and they are still alive to some degree.
Very thin and not much padding but they are still together. No rips. Alot of wear and tear on the ollie patch area but still have another 5 sessions or so until rip through. i started skating them after the emerica reynolds mid and they are equally comparable. although the reynolds has way more protetction and durability i think.

Will post some other late 90's/early 2000's gems later.

Dekline Timtim slips
colored in the hipster arrows and dream catchers and cut the sidetags off.
REALLY impressed with them. I would go so far as to say they are neck and neck with the Van's classic series slip-ons in suede
Still pretty sure I'll blow out the side in one session, but yall know I'm not afraid of some shoegoo
Gonna probably get a couple more pairs to hold me over till Vans get's their canvas heads out of their floral print assholes...

I've been (and am) loyal to the Lakai Howard but recently trying some different kicks. I get all the politics involved with Nike, but they flat out killed it with the Koston 2. They're a little stiff out of the box so I had to wear around town for a few days before skating in them. I'd put it right there with the Howard as a skate shoe that is above the pack. The fit is slim and close to the foot and the heel lock is no joke. After a few days the upper and Lunarlon insole forms to your foot so it's literally 'like a glove'. I prefer the XLK sole a little bit better than the Koston sole, but the shoe is top notch in all areas. It's a well made shoe and they feel like they might be a little more durable than the Howard, but I am just guessing at that.

I only have about 4 skate hours on these but they still look brand new.

Thanks mate, I trust your product endorsements as if they came with a 200% money back guarantee for 50,000 miles.

Really took the last pair of slip-on's to the limits of molecular bonding . . .

Those Dekline hunnies are suede too, correct?

and theyve actually lasted like 3 short sessions without holeing out yet
but even still, give'r sum goo and I could see these going the distance.

Are these brown or like an orange color? Either way that's probably one of the best color ways I've seen those in.

They're Nikes so the exact color is probably something like "Nuclear Dijon."

Thanks Stanley. HATE is right, Nike's usually come with some crazy name and I had to look at the box to see what they even do call this color....and I think my wife pitched the box. I think they call it Cider, or something similar. They are definitely closer to orange.

I seriously laughed out loud at that one!

Shoe Goo or hot glue as soon as you see tearing is the key.

Those last slip-ons lasted me like 8 months with the proper care.

I won't even tell you where I got them from . . . It would be such a dig at Vans & their dwindling quality. . .

I would like to skate slip ons but my feet slip out of shoes so often

I hear you there.  Last pair of slip ons I had were some Vans Slip On Pros, they skated really well and felt great.  Only problem was, my heel would slip when I pushed and sometimes my foot would come out completely if I stepped on a transition (facing upwards).  Going half size down would be too tight on my toes.  I still have a pair of old Veronas, which I never had that problem with.
