Thanks Tate for the heads up. I may pick up another pair at that price. I forgot to mention in my first post, the "Free" sole feels weird at first. It's actually almost too sensitive, if that makes any sense. You can feel everything. My feet did start to ache toward the end of my session last night, but I was skating pretty hard. The soles also needed worked in because they felt a little slippery right out of the box.
[close]

Is it like that piece of shit sole on the Lunar Janoskis? I am kind of into those nanos but not if they have that motherfucker of a sole.
[close]

Nah, it's not quite like the Lunar Janoski. IMO, the quality of the Nano sole is great. Nothing bad to say in that regard. Just that it didn't feel super grippy right out of the box. It had to be scuffed up and worked in. But in the feel department - with the Free sole design being articulated in different sections, it gives almost too much feel to your feet if that makes any sense. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, it's just different than most skate shoes. Some will definitely dig it.
[close]

Well great, now I've bought them. Remember how I sold stuff because I didn't need it and never wore it?
We had over 50% returns on every Free sole shoe we sold.
Those squares peeled off pretty quick on the sole.
Even at the weartest we did peoples soles were peeling.

There you go SFB. A different perspective. If the sole does start to peel on you, I apologize for recommending them. Now I feel personally responsible!  :o  ;D

If you bought them from Nike direct, I understand they're good about warrantying their stuff although I've never had to return anything.

Alright team, what's the best rubber toe shoe out right now? I skated a little bit in my Huf x Bronze and I liked them but don't wanna skate them that much because they're #very #rare and #exclusive. So really my question is Classics, Chucks, or CKs? Also I'd be putting in the Cons lunarlon insoles regardless of what I got

Altamont capital partners is obviously not the same thing as the clothing brand, and I can't tell who knows the difference in the above posts.

Doesn't have to be from Nike directly to claim the warranty. They *all* have a 2-year warranty. Just check the barcode tag inside (and make sure it stays intact.) Takes about 3 weeks but they will send you a gift code for the retail price to use on their site.

Picked these up, dunks are one of the best. Even the newly re-vamped ones. I don't mind.

edit:

Arrived from Nike today, with their 20% off clearance shoes. Got for $69 shipped. I like when the swoosh is black on any Nike's.

I just got done with my Riley's, I've been skating them since june and finally burned though the bottom, the flip/ollie area is still fully intact, and I do a lot of ollies and flips or whatever. Best shoe I've ever had.

young dude at the park skates them now and he usually goes through shoes really fast- i think by now he got a solid month and a half in them and they look like he skated them twice or something. when i tried them at the shop they felt really solid for a minimalistic vulc.

Heard nothing but good feedbacks on the Rileys, Lakai is really steping up their quality. Hope they keep that path, they just need some of their model to be a bit lighter.

yeah guess the heaviness comes from the vulc sole, but the lake vulc sole lasts me longer than most other vulcs, converse coming in second!
skated the MJs with the long toe box and after over a month of skating in them the bottom of the sole looked like out of the box. sole keeps a certain stiffness for quite some time but still good board feel.

Had these for a little while just wearing them around. Very thin and unsupported but super comfy. Fun for cruising but my old body needs a little more support for actually skating. Before and after boredom kicked in. A little bleach dabbling. I have too many all black shoes anyways.

Finally getting around to skating these. Been camping out in the closet too long. Canvas is holding up better than expected but its still canvas. Such a different feel skating non Lunarlon Cons.

@DeepernOah- are these the sea star 2 or whatever they were called?

i grabbed the low version in blue suede/leather with white leather laces and they lasted me 2 months, wich i would have never expected. even the support wast bad for it being a minimalistic vulc!
Great flick and the sole lasted forever!

are they still around?
if you look for me im on eBay looking for these

Yeah, they're the Sea Star 2. Got them from Skate Park of Tampa a while back. The last I saw, Converse wasn't still making them, but it wasn't forever ago that they took them off the site. There are still some pairs floating around I'm sure. I'll let you know if I see any.
