does anyone else always rip their laces on the very top eyelet? i always seem to do it but i've never seen it happen to anyone else. is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening? am i a kook??  ???

Wallies usually do the same to my laces, if you dab a little superglue to the lace it'll harden it up just enough to help prevent it from ripping

me too, i dont even rip the bottom ones anymore. just put som tape over it.

Happens to me all the time Hash. Can't explain why. I always thought it was odd too.

well, ISLE's Vase did its job and convinced me to take a brief pause from wearing my usual/reliable adidas/vans to try out the Griffin XLK

psyched to try em out.  the soles seem like they're gonna get nice and gummy/flexy with some cupsole support.

You're gonna love the feel of how they skate Art. But I will say this - I'll be interested to hear how these hold up for you. I have 2 pair - the white suede and brown suede. From a durability standpoint the white suede pair blew out unusually quick. I burned through the upper like wildfire. Maybe 4 - 5 hours of skate time and the toe was almost all the way through. The outsole was softer than usual and the suede felt like paper. But the brown pair is entirely different, suede is thicker and they are holding up great.

I'm sure this has been discussed already, but has anyone actually skated the Huf Gillettes?  I don't plan on getting a pair (unless I find them super cheap), but I'm curious what people think with the heel and the unconventional design.

I got this shit all the time when i skate a pair of eras, top lace breaks and the padding right behind them rips to shreds, i think its just how my foot sits on certain tricks, i noticed it more when i started doing bs 180s

Depends on size and colorway, but there are ones around $34 on Amazon right now.

On another note, Amazon's got some sort of 3D measurement thing now to help compare a shoe with one you already know. I guess developing that tech beats dealing with free returns. I was kind of wondering about the width of Gillettes and don't have anywhere to try them out.

I have a pair here, what do you normally wear and I'll try to tell you what they fit similar too.  But I will say they are on the narrower side.

I think it's just the way some people ollie. Board goes up, ankle bends - there you have it. A few times I've skated sockless in thin shoes and I've bloodied my ankle bone.

I'm getting my swoosh off my pair of ck's to keep them clean. But the swoosh is also has glue behind it. I'm taking my lighter and trying to burn the glue away. Would anything else work?

Try putting a patch of red suede the same shape as the glue pattern on to hide it.

Thought the red line that runs through the shoe ended, but I guess not wraps around the entire shoe pretty neat-o, mainly been sticking to the One Stars, although they hotbox like crazy.

Habitat Garcias with some old blazer insoles.

I might hold on to this pair of Austyns. Skated this shoe more than any other, I've had somewhere between 10-15 pairs over the last few years.

Giving these a go now, Took almost a month of walking around in them to get them to loosen up a bit. These have been through about 9 hours of skating so far and I do alot of flip tricks. The grip is great and the flick is really good. The stiffness kinda helps in my situation cause if my toes bend back a bit to far they hurt like hell for the rest of the day. They are really light and pretty comfortable too boot. The Ripped laces review was spot on when comparing them to Ipaths although they aren't quite as wide. I wish they came in a few different colors though.

Is it true they changed the sole, and it last much more?
I had a hole in the sole from about 6 months of walking (non exclusively) in them.

I heard that they were going to change the sole...but dunno when/if they made the change, and whether/if this pair has the new sole.  I'm pretty delicate on the soles of my shoes...but I know plenty of friends blew through the soles on the buz vulc in no-time flat a year or so ago.  overall, Adidas has not done a good job of letting the public know when they make changes/update their existing shoes.

I'm still wondering what the differences are between the adi-ease, the adi-ease ADV, and the Adi-ease premiere with the extra toe stitching.  Is it just the Adi-Tuff layer?  Is that layer in the adi-ease ADV?

It's sorta like with the Silas II... adiprene is all the rage right now, but the Silas II had it actually built into the heel of the sole instead of a mega-adiprene insole like the Suciu/Superstar ADV (I think the Angelides/Drake superstars had it built in the sole too).  you'd think they woulda hyped up the adiprene back then...

Down to my last NB# 533, going to lace them up now to skate them next. Time to hit up NB# and get a refill on my current favorite skate shoe.

Wouldn't be mad if I could only skate these my entire skate life, they should offer it on the NB custom program, like Nike iD.

Agreed Tate... 533 customs would be so sick. And this is by far the best skate shoe to come in the past few years. I've skated 4 pairs in a row and have 6 more pairs on deck.

I was about to get those since i found a pair for cheap and everybody seems to love them, but my size was gone when i was about to finally had the cash with me. I got bummed as fuck so i bought the Logan 636 out of consolation. I hope they are as good as the PJ ones.

Truthfully speaking, for my foot the 636 fits me more snug toe to heel and gives more heel lock. That's to say nothing bad about the 533, because I skate those also, I just feel like the 636 fit me a little more snug, which I prefer in a shoe. I'll try to post up a pic later today after work.

Yeah thanks for the feedback heritage! I'm a big fan of the classic look of them but was afraid of the fit. Nice to hear they have a good heel lock!

Here you go SKATAN - definitely a great fitting and great skating shoe. Rev-Lite outsole is high quality. Not sure about the durability just yet, I only have abuot 6 - 8 hours on these. The seam on the side is in a weird place and starting to pull apart. But it's a solid shoe overall.

Yeah, they look fine to me! Mine are the burgundy ones, with the mesh (or nylon) on the toe, but i'm not worried about it, the way i flick my tricks they never reach that place.

Scooped these Emerica Reynolds Low Vulcs up for cheap. They fit bigger than I expected and had to go a half size down. Need to find the Rep in the Long Beach, Ca area who keeps selling them to Buffalo Exchange. I feel we could both benefit from that.  ;D

I'm not really a vulc guy but I love the Quincy.

These shoes blew out on me in 2 weeks, sole completely unglued from the upper. Also the insole is such garbage
