Go grab a stick out of your yard and break it and put it in your shoe and you're done.

whats the difference between skate vans and regular vans? can you skate regular vans? is the outsole (waffle grip) the same?

do pro and regular shoes fit the same? is it worth it to buy regulars?

does the authentic and era fit the same?

i live hours away from everything so i cant just try on shoes  :'(

i havent had vans in forever. has the quality improved? do they still bag out? i want them to bag out as 10 is way to big and 9.5 is tight.

What do you wear now or like wearing?

i had a bunch of shoes layin, but my feet grew so ive been dealing with alot of pain for the last 3 months. im so scared of getting a bunion i know that will fuck up you shoe game forever.  but ive been skating cupsoles mostly, wanna get back on some vulcs. had some lakai cambys, lakai really stepped up their quality.

why?

I got some of the AVE highs and the Skate High Pros.. the Pros have a thicker insole and some padding, so they fit a tiny bit tighter than the AVEs which have the real thin insole. I put some zoom insoles from bruins in the AVEs and liked it a bit more. What size are you?

I find that 1: The pro skate vans have about 2.5x more cushioning, 2: They are grippier than the non skate ones, 3: Are about 2x as durable, 4: 100% more supportive vs. non-skate vans. I have skated the old skool pro, authentic pro, and era pro and I can say that I loved all of them. The non-skate ones will immediately require a new insole in order to skate them.

Are the Ishod Dunks worth the $$$?
[close]

From everything I've heard/read ... no. But, you could most likely find them on sale and then I'd say give them a go and see for yourself, although I think I'd agree with Tate and say just stick to the regular Dunks if you want Dunks. I'd prefer the one's with more padding myself.

...love regular dunks but when i tried them on they seemed kinda _weird_ , like they made them too narrow and too long

I make so much fun of toe caps, especially these tardy looking ones, but I was given a pair and they skated pretty well. Once the shoe gets a little floppy it really makes the toe cap seem a lot stiffer and a little cumbersome, but it wasn't a killer. I wish they were a little more like the GT Blazer, but that shoe is pretty much done in three sessions. Once the CK is broken in it feels like it gets half a size bigger though. The insoles are doo doo. I'd get another pair, especially now that they're all on sale because the world hates them.

skating the 112s right now. fit is wide, loose, and kinda shitty. But the suede is holding up well and the new waffle tread is waaaay more durable than whatever they were using before. and I actually prefer the new pro insole to whatever the old one was with the gel.

Who is the fella that ripped off the nike swooshes oh so beautifully? I think it was a poster by the name of Cosme. If anybody has quick link or a screenshot on his method to ripping off the swoosh that would be appreciated.

4th pair of Reynolds, Supra Avex, P. Rod 8

Sorry about the pic size.

Reynolds: Wanted to get Westgate runners but I don't see them on sale as often. I keep forgetting about how these crush my toes for the first few sessions, even before I swap in my old Nike insoles. The stock insoles are the WORST and there's no I could skate in them. Size 10.5.

Toe pain aside, I was surprised how quickly I was skating in these without any break in awkward stage.

P. Rod 8: saw these on fleabay for $35 so I thought I'd give them a try. Msrp was $145! I ordered these in 11 since that's my usual Nike size. Pulled them out of the box and held them next to the Reynolds and they were half and inch longer. Oh, shit. But when I tried them on my toes were pleasantly snug - there's no way I'd fit in a 10.5.

Sole cushioning is good but the heel to toe drop is smaller than I like with the stock Lunarlon insoles (which are otherwise nice). Thin unpadded tongue is annoying with the stock round laces. Hard to get the laces not too loose, not too tight. Synthetic upper smells like shit and is going to be hot as fuck. Tightly waisted in the arch area which looks goofy and makes your instep hang over a bit, just like the Project BA. Complaints aside, they were reasonably comfortable from the get go.

Tried skating in them for 5 minutes but I was hating it and switched to the Reynolds. Maybe the sole needs break in or maybe I need to get used to the larger size or the synthetic ollie area. I definitely want to add some heel height to the insole as well.

Avex: Got these a in the mail a few days later. Never got to try one in a store and ordered 10.5 which looked super small when I got them. Surprise, the Avex had the roomiest toe area of all. My big toe has about the same space as the Reynolds but my little toes aren't getting crushed like on that shoe.

Narrower than I expected overall and not very heavily padded on the sides. Foot sits rather high in the upper and laces don't come up very high. Weird business where the tongue isn't sure if it wants to go above or under the hidden lace loops.
Sole padding is firm but there is a lot of it. Significant heel to toe drop. Insole has softer insert in heel, rest is cheapo foam but still better than the Emericas.
Color-way is plain but looks less mid-2000s Ben Gilley in person.
Outsole is a nice soft gum which feels nicer than the 'dirty gum' on some other Supras I've seen but it might not last long.

I think I'll like these provided I don't roll my ankle on account of them being high and narrow.

Overall length comparison:

I'm giving "skater owned" some rotation time. Skated these Camby Mid most of the weekend. I liked them. IMO Lakai's idea of mid is the perfect height. And the canvas on these is actually stronger than I thought it would be.

And these MJ Mid...haven't done too heavy skating in them yet, just some slappies and whatever, but they feel good.

the camby is the best lakai ive skated. had a fura and a mj before it and they were both shit quality. must have been from a different factory. if i could just get my hands on a mid suede camby...

but heres the thing, theres the echelon sole (camby) and then theres the anchor sole (mj). the anchor line is designed for skateboarding, but to me the echelon sole seems better for skating?

the herringbone pattern is more closely packed, making the sole last longer, and giving it little bit more grip. and whats the point of having a flex groove in the middle of the shoe? like wtf.

Aesthetics and more flexibility in any direction so the feet will adapt better to the board concave. I think any of those soles are good. They dig a pretty good job with the deepness of the herringbone pattern so both should last about the same.

i havent skated it yet, just walked around, but it seems like the same sole as the avex. also, the overall feel is like a even improved avex, and i was really happy with that shoe. so i would say go for it.

The Bandits do look great. Seems like its the perfect height. Plus I'd buy a Penny shoe too so he keeps making money.

Anyone had/have the Nike SB Zoom Tre's? I'm looking for a new cupsole and I remember these being regarded as indestructible. How do they fit compared to Dunks? I have a wider foot.

thnx

Funny, last night I skated my Suciu's I bought at the end of last summer and was thinking about at least trying on an 11.5.  There's a little more room in the toe.  I skated Busenitz ADV's before that which felt pleasantly more snug.  I really have liked all the adidas I've skated (Busenitz Pro/ADV, Ronan's, Suciu's) but am thinking about trying something else this year.  I'm tempted to check out the PJ Stratfords.  Any other suggestions, Pals?  I'm 32 and only skate cupsoles.
