experementied with some dunks at 4:00am, taking off the swooshtm was simple enough with a box cutter thingy cutting the stitching, but getting it all out is a pain in the ass, and after being done with it theres still holes from the stitching so there's a phantom swoosh now, and i did a ghetto spray paint job also, the next time i do this it should look a lot better

just poke a bunch more holes in that panel. might be good for venting. dunks look really weird without the puffy laces they usually come with

These look almost exactly like Appleyard's old pro model on circa.

^^^ yea, didnt like em at all either.  the mids dug right into the worst part of my ankle.

Piggybacking off Art's post on feedback on mids... Not about those Adidas mids but on the HUF Mercer mid. I was always a fan of the Quiksilver Reese Forbes RF1 shoe so I thought the HUF Mercer would work perfectly for me since it's an identical knockoff. I was wrong. It couldn't be more uncomfortable and digs into the worst part of your ankle when skating. If anything it felt like it hurt my ankles more than protect them. Just a really uncomfortable skate shoe all the way around.

Well fuck, thanks Lakai. They've been doing that shit with XLK's forever, it's infuriating. I want to give them money but I'm not about to go through days of pain to break in some narrow ass cupsole.

It is what it is (and it's not like we've beaten this topic to death 500 times over).
I've owned those silas' since they were first released (because I love the OG adidas' ZX series) and the only other pair of "corpo" shoes I've ever bought were stan smith vulcs (which were absolute pieces of SHIT).
My other skate shoes I have on rotation atm are some emericas, some OG rowley re-issues and some vans syndicate old skools. Am keen to get some lakais, maybe even some of the last batch of MJ's just to support Carroll in offloading them. What shoes are you rocking at the moment lap dancer?

Nope, that photo has to be 5 years or so old.

Even has old NSB watermark. That site no longer exists.

Currently rocking Emerica Heritics and Etnies Verano. For skating I have Vox Oyola Push and some Airwalks because of Ricky's EE3 nostalgia.

Man I would kill for some of those templeton/ heritic reissues :-X
What airwalks are you rocking in 2016 :D The one's ricky skates in EE3 are the ones with goodyear rubber on them no? They were probably the last good shoe they put out. How do vox hold up? If I was gunna go all out indy skate brand I'd be down for some servants but you can' find them anywhere!

Well I don't know the exact name of that Airwalk model, got to find the box somewhere, basically I got them because they were very cheap on sale and they looked exactly like the ones Ricky is wearing in the intro "The Philadelphia" close rolling shot in EE3. Just plain black suede with nubuck and white sole with logo on the side. Of course in my mind I wanted to pull 90's "uniform". ;D At the beginning they were a bit pain in the ass, but once I broke them in, they do their job decently.
The Vox Oyola Push I have are leather and they hold up very well. The only area that is notably wearing off is the sole on the bottom/side of the heel. Only downside is that they are full one size bigger than most of the other skate shoes of that size.

They broke in quickly and feel great. However, I don't think they're going to last long because the suede is kind of thin. It also doesn't help that they got soaked in a thunderstorm.

Vans AVE rapid weld lite

Fits a bit more snug than regular vans (which is why I got them, regular vans run big on me). This 10 feels like a DC/Nike 20, i.e. a perfect fit for my feet.

Build seems nice, tongue is staying put, insoles are super comfy, really impressed with the fit and lightweight-ness (for Vans). Shame they aren't the waffle cup. Wearing them around to break them in, will be my dedicated skate shoe until the new Puig releases.

busenitz mid

so comfortable.  the mid collar is almost "puffy".  sole seems thinner (which to me is a good thing) also, doesn't have the same raised heel as the regular version.  totally flat.

maybe a perfect shoe.  wont know til I get to skate em...which judging on my ankle's insanely slow recovery time, may be NEVER.

Feel you on the ankle, the day I got myself a new board *CRACK* ankle sprain. Arnicare gel really helps.

I'm with you on the Ankle recovery, worst injury in 20+ years of skating, still aches, can finally put weight on it and actually push without pain, pretty sure I won't be doing tricks anytime soon...might just be carving tranny...going on three months (and with physical therapy).

yeah, I'm at 11 weeks (almost 3 months) and still getting pain across the top of the ankle (and inside in the inner ankle joint) when I pull the foot up towards the sky.   been RICE'ing the fuck out of it along with just about every physio exercise known to man.

I was wearing Blazers when it happened.... so I don't even know what to believe about mids/hi's anymore

Why?? That was the thing I liked the most on my buz pro's... Those Varial Heels never felt so good! Also a thinner sole doesnt sound that good to me, the traditional was already really thin in the forefoot.

the cup is the same...just doesn't feel like the heel is raised at all.  maybe it has to do with the way the shape of the collar affects the manufacture of the shoe.  probably wasn't an intended result.  best quote from a friend = "they built the mid to fit the tongue"

Mids/hi's won't prevent any ankle rolls, only protect against ankle biters. If you're ankle is going to roll, it's going to roll in any shoe, unless its laced super loose your ankle might slip out, but no one wants loosely laced shoes. Ankle braces are your best bet, while continuing to rehab them while off the board.

when i tie my dunks as tight as i can it helps a ton. i mean it might not be entirely skateable but i cant pop my board yet so it doesnt matter.
