I can't decide between getting blazer mids or one stars as my next pair to try out.
[close]
Blazer mids: Extremely durable, supportive (for a vulc), good boardfeel/grip, and very comfortable once broken in. Only cons I can think of is that they get a bit hot and it has the zoom air insole (which I don't like)

One stars: Fairly durable, lunarlon insole, good boardfeel/grip. Cons: the bottom of the sole detached from one of my shoes, I hope you have extremely skinny feet because they are so pointy it's unbelievable, you have to skate them for a while to obtain good comfort and no pinky toe blisters. I also found that they stretched a lot which makes them look really weird.

Personally I think blazer mids are the way to go, you could also check out the one star mid if you're into those.
I said fuck it and got both half cabs and rowley solos for the same price as a pair of Blazers or one stars

These skate just fine, they feel a little wider than the originals and the insole is better, but the regular ones skate fine as well

This is true. I'm skating a pair now and have a new pair ready for the future. It's like the McDonald's Ciabatta burger - so good, only out for a limited time, and corporate.

it really does skate so well, once they break in you have a lot of board feel in the toes but then the heel has so much impact protection. I've landed primo in these so many times and literally didnt even feel any pain I would skate these all the time if I could

I can totally check next time I'm there. While none of the sale shoes are on the skateshop website they do phone orders so I can let you know if they have them in 9.5 then you can call up and order them over the phone. Some of the shoes on the sale rack are sooo old I saw a pair of Habitat shoes and some etnies Artos last time I was there

Yeah I skated some of the regular ones way back in the day. As far as I remember they were good but It's been many years.
Might get a pair of skate ones when i get through the matchcourts I just got. Gonna see how I like the whole toe cap situation.

Thinking of trying a pair (even though I still have his OG model on heavy rotation). Did you like the insole in them? Want to rock the spitfire collab ones but I can't deal with red insoles :o

Insole?! Like inside the shoe, the part that NOBODY sees unless they aren't on your feet?! Why cant they be red...? That makes no sense.  Hahaha

Being as close to the ground as possible is how I've reduced eliminated ankle injuries. I used to sprain my ankle all the time when I wore shoes that had midsoles, chunky vulc and cup outsoles, and thick insoles. I messed up my right ankle so bad I needed surgery. Mids or highs won't do anything if your foot can't feel anything because it's too far off the ground.

After reading a lot about feet and the human body (muscle atrophy/alignment of the body/etc) I switched back to thin minimal vulcs and replaced the insoles with the thinnest insole I could find (currently using insoles from Mike Mo DCs). I tried all the aftermarket insoles for a while and they did nothing. I'll only use thin, squishy insoles (like the Emerica ones) and old Blazer insoles. Since I made this change 3 years ago I've rolled my ankle once. It was more like a tweak and only took me out for a few weeks, and it was my bad ankle.

I did get a few bad cases of heel bruise in the first year when I made the switch, but they're fine now. My feet and ankles feel stronger than they have in years. My feet will only feel sore the next day if I have jumped down something, but that's it. I've heard a few pros (Lucas, that Colden kid) don't wear insoles at all. I'd be scared to go back to a thicker shoe (thick insole, midsole, outsole, etc), it just feels way too unstable now.

I was thinking about making that switch, but my feet and knees just can't handle it after a lot of skating. The amount of impact involved in skating really isn't good for your joints in the long run, especially with such thin shoes. I've been going with the thick cupsole+fp insole+ankle brace combination. I know ankle braces weaken your ankle, but since I do physio daily and still cruise and skate lightly without ankle braces I think that won't affect me. I feel worlds different after skating for a day in vulcs vs supportive cupsoles, but still will admit the high midsole can feel sketchy at times. There just doesn't seem to be a perfect solution. How do you deal with the impact, or potential long term issues down the line? Cheers

Have you seen the crap graphics from Remind and Footprint? I'll take plain jane red any day if it's as good as FP's cushioning.

I'd go .5 down in that shoe.  The toebox is abnormally long.  I haven't complained about many adidas shoes but I got my normal size in that and had a ton of room in front of my toes to the point where skating it felt uncomfortable in a not safe, could slip type way.  It was too bad as I really wanted to love the shoe

Picked up the Lakai Fremont. Whoever said it was narrow was full of shit. They're roomy and really comfortable. This is coming from a guy who couldn't skate the old XLKs because they were too narrow. Hyped on these things!

Honestly I wouldn't skate and just let the thing heal. It will be worth it in the end. Do these exercises once or twice per day and ice for 10-20 minutes afterwards. This is from my Physical Therapist and I can definitely feel my ankle getting stronger. It's a slow process but injuries are just part of the game and you have to deal with them.
[ankle exercises]

what happened to your ankle? did you have surgery? i'm starting to have peroneal tendonitis or some shit...

 **BLUE/YELLOW SILAS SLR**

These are crazy nice, great colorway! Damn nice.

@Level60 - Keep us updated on the Fremont and how they hold up. Lakai killed it on that shoe. Really nice looking shoe and the inner looks like a big one piece sock, similar to what Adidas did with the first ADV Boost.

@Art - your Staples are killer too. Fresh cloud kickers for Summer. That's my favorite color of those.
