Has anyone else skated leather Huf Classic Hi's? The tongue keeps sliding to the side and it sucks. Never had this problem with my suede pair. Should I just take my razor and cut out a little stablizer strap?
[close]

I've skated them and had the exact same problem. I never tried the stabilizer method, I just lived with having my tongue on the side of my foot by the end of every session.

They did last way longer than the suede ones though.

I wonder if it just depends on the pair you get, because I had that issue with a suede pair but my canvas ones are completely fine.

I do a few of wallies but surely that isn't it? Like I'm talking a few a session? This has never happened on any other shoe. That area has gotten scuffs before from heelflips etc but never torn all the way through. I agree It is really strange.

Picked up the Wino G6, feels comfy after a day of walking but noticeably less breathable than the Puig

For the price, the wino G6 is the best shoe on the market.

I've been wearing these State Elgins for less than a week - the canvas is NOT durable. Tore through to the sock within about 6 hours of skating. Really skateable besides that, would definitely cop a suede version.

What in the fuck are you doing to get holes over there? Super boned back foot?
[close]
Seriously, what the fuck are you doing?

I'm wearing these. I snipped the elastic like half an inch and they're pretty good. Way better than the elgins I had to throw away...

Can anyone say how these compare to Vans slips?

Cannot comment on how the state slip skates but from trying them on they feel sturdier than vans. I just got the blue AA vans slips and must say I'm rather disappointed. They're comfortable but after a week have broken in and packed out kinda loose. They don't hold a candle to the lakai Owens. Bought the lakaixftc in January and they still fit snug and are supportive. I prefer the lakai insole too over the ultracush too

Was going to wait two weeks before skating them to break them in (have a trade show to go to and was going to wear them there) but decided to skate them today - so good! Toe box is a bit narrow but my buddy is skating them and they mushed out a bit there, the heel is so on point, it's as if mine is being cradled...great board feel to; nice to be back on a shoe that grips, the DC smiths I was wearing had no grip and were starting to wear badly after 4, 2 hr sessions (I'm finding a trend with white soles...dc smiths, adidias Lucas Premiere ADVs just don't grip as well as gum soles). I'm a believer.

On the last legs of my Vans Ultrarange Pro's as well as the last couple pairs of shoes that've been piling up in my closet for years now. Almost there! Got some DIY action going on with these Dookie Brown P.Rod 7's I got on sale years ago. I skated them briefly and even got a good street clip in them but I never skated them regularly because I didnt like the brown on the toecap. So I got some leather paint for the toe and some Tulip Fabric Spraypaint for the heel and went at it. Covering the rest of the shoe with tape was the bulk of my work time, everything else was done in a few seconds and the paints only take an hour to dry. Hyped on how they turned out so far, Im gonna do the left shoe later today.

would also like to give vans a shoutout for placing the laces on the ultrarange out of the way because i've yet to rip one despite already wearing thru the duracap. I dunno why more companies dont do this with their designs, seems like such an easy fix for such a common problem. I can't STAND going thru laces

You should dig those Ellington's, you know dude knows how to design a shoe. work great with FP insoles too.

And yeah I'm finally on my last couple pair of the 7's, my favorite shoe ever. Was a good run while it lasted I just hope another skate shoe can one day capture my heart the same way

Will, I don't know if you're into NB#, but you should try the 533s, I'm sure you can find the V1s for cheap. A good not too low solid cupsole.

Added some SLB's to the Reynolds rotation.
Heavy nostalgia, a decent price ($35) and a craving for some white kicks all helped in this purchase.
I had numerous pairs of these the first time around and really liked them. I did some of the best skating of my life in them. But I figure that had more to do with the fact that I was 20. And less to do with what was on my feet. The soles on these is way thinner than the Reynolds, especially in the front half. Landing primo a few times hurt more than it normally would. I think I will only be skating these on really mellow stuff. Skateparks or curbs.
I do like having the toe piece on there. I was a reluctant convert when all shoes began getting the one piece toe. It seemed more slippery to me. I like the way flip tricks feel with that little extra toe piece.
And just like the originals, this inside seam split open right away. This is 1 day of skating them:

lunarlon is legit no joke ... been skating cup soles for years due to my bad back but these few pair of cons I've picked up recently are all super comfortable ( once you figure your size out )  Also cool to support MAnderson and an animal friendly product

Yeah, I agree. Lunarlon is the best feeling thick insole, and the green ortholite nike uses is the best thinsole. I go back and forth between lunarlon and footprint -but FP feels too clunky/heavy/lumpy sometimes. Probably just my weird feet.

There's a couple colorways that've been on my radar. I actually did a shoe review of the very first run they came out with when they were with BlackBox but obviously the company and shoe have gone through a ton of changes since. How's the sizing on them now? I remember I might've gone a half size up and from what I've seen on reviews online a lot of people say they run kind of small/narrow. I would probably like to use my FP custom orthotics in them too

Lunarlon is great until it isn't. It packs out and loses rebound about as quickly as plain EVA, maybe faster. Nike isn't pushing it in their running line much anymore.

Going TTS or up.5 will work in the 533 and the v.2. Fit has gotten better since they left black box. I use FP game changers on my pairs and they all fit fine.

I think it's one of those models that you have to try before buying. I went up 0.5 on the V1s and didn't try the V2s yet. up 0.5 what just a lil bit large (like 0.2 too much), but after a long session I was happy to have a bit more room because my foot tend to inflate a little bit after 2 or 3 hours of skating (same with running).
ps: I totally forgot about your review I remember it now ^^
