Started skating the newer Superstar ADV, and I'm very surprised as I wasn't expecting much.
I didn't like the Campus ADV much at all and it didn't fit great, but the Superstar heel is much higher so it has much better lock. I think they will last a long time, although I just skated them for a 2nd time and blew through the 1st stripe completely.

This is before/after first sesh for about 45 minutes.

I was really contemplating getting these but I’m a hell of a lace ripper. They look pretty sick tho! Would love to hear more about them as you skate em.

Last update until they have some significant wear... this is after 2nd session today, skated for a few hours.
Broke the switch lace but not the normal lace, I'm regular footed. Probably going to super glue the stripe back down, but the actual nubuck-like material seems like it won't get a hole anytime soon.
Flick is great, rubber toe has no bad effects for me and seems to actually help. True to size. I walked around for like an hour before skating these. Basically no break in but I'm used to cupsoles.

I've had a couple sessions on my Tyshawn's coming from 440's and I love them so far.

Mid top isn't quite high enough to cover the ball of your ankle, but it's like 90% there.  The midsole and insole are great for my old knees, and I feel like I can skate longer than sessions with the 440's.

Sk.A.T.A.N, do you know if Adidas is going to keep this model for a few more seasons?  If not, please let me know so I can stock up on more.

What's the midsole like on the superstar now? I know they did like a gel thing underneath the insole before but are they still doing that? Is there any cushioning besides the thin insole?

I had some 80's type version before and it was hard as a brick.

Shalom pals, could anyone of you give me help for the sizing of vans half-cab?
I wear a 7.5 in Lakai's with footprint orthotics.
Sorry I live in the middle of nowhere and no shops close to me.
Thanks in advance

Halfcabs run pretty true to size. Whether you get the Classics or the Pros. A 7.5 in a Half Cab should fit you comfortably. If you wear FP orthotics I would either suggest getting the classics in a 0.5 size up and putting the FP insole on top of the glued in one OR go the option in your normal size but swap insoles. It's difficult but possible to pull out the glued in insole in the Classics.

I've never successfully ripped out a classic Vans insole and used an aftermarket insole and had the shoe feel very good. I would suggest just going with Half Cab Pros in your normal size, or enjoy the magic of the Classic Half Cabs before your feet start to hurt. I go half size down for Vans but I rarely hear of people doing that, but I have skinny feet.

I prefer the shape, feel, and look of the classic half cab vs. the pro.

I half size up on the classic, then use a hair dryer to heat the insole for a few minutes before tearing it out.  Then I'll throw an ultracush insole of my usual size.

I've definitely run into the issue of the classic insole not coming out easily and then trying to scrape the crumbles out w/ a flat head screwdriver but have found that heating it up with a hairdryer works very well.  At least for my last few pairs.
Enjoy your life.

i checked it out and it seems like there is some sort of gel pad under the first layer under the heel in the midsole. heel cushioning felt pretty good with stock insoles. there's a also thin layer of cushioning running under the insole, which is pretty thin itself. if you pair these with with some fatter and squishier insoles, they should feel pretty cloudy. note though that the tongue isn't padded at all. just two layers of leather and fabric respectively.

Copped some heat on Ebay, (Kalis S were 43 bucks and the Figgys were 30) and couldn't resist and got the Carrolls.  Should be set for like a year with the Kalis and Carrolls, and Im rocking the Figgys as civilian shoes. You can also see my current pair of Kalis S (love these 4real)

On my second pair of Lakai Owen's and they have felt perfect even on day 1. Good protection with the cup/vulc hybrid and insole, convenient, and just a good looking shoe. Vans slip ons give me horrible pinky toe blisters.

Got these Emerica Dickson shoes yesterday and they're nice. I wasn't sure how they would fit but they run true to size and offer a heel anchor system which cups your heel and makes it feel really secure. I usually have problems with heel slip but these feel good and secure. There is a different tread on the bottom that looks great. It kind of reminds me of the Non-slip desert grip that was on the Herman 2's. I look forward to skating in these and seeing how they hold up. The rubber flick shield under the toe cap makes me think they'll last a while although I go through the soles faster than the flicking area. Give these shoes a shot if you're interested cause at $65 they definitely give you your moneys worth.

I’m really into my dicksons. They feel more cushy than some cups I’ve had. They look good I put white laces in mine so they kinda look like vans authentics. I’ve had them since March but with corona I’ve barely got to skate them. So I can’t speak on durablity. I just got to the point where I wasn’t weird about skating during corona and my girl was induced into labor. So now it’s gonna be a bit.

This is the third iteration I’ve rocked these washed corals in. First I rocked em as they came and with the black laces. Then I painted the swooshes black and kept the black laces in. Now I put the coral laces in. Sometimes I didn’t like skating with them all murdered out because there wasn’t much to look down at. Hyped to skate em today.

Got some Vans for the first time in awhile. The last few pairs I had all skated weird but I realized I was buying them too big. Went a full size down compared to my last pair and they feel great. I feel like an idiot for that anecdote but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've been skating these Accel slims for the past month or so. I was skating in Newports but aside from their excellent grip, the slippery heel and overall thin material wasn't doing it for me. So I switched to these. Got them on sale for around $70 CDN.

These Accels were all right. I wanted to skate a pair for a long time. But when I first put them on, the right shoe was pressing against my little toe and it was real uncomfortable. I honestly thought that they were going to rip the toenail off. But I gave them some time and eventually that problem went away when I broke them in.

The sole wasn't too grippy either, which sucked, but I got used to it. But they're comfortable and have a good flick. For some reason though, I wasn't catching my kickflips as well as the Gatos or the Elevates. When I was first skating them, the flick was really sensitive and they'd overflip a little, making my back foot catch the flip on the edge of the board.

They've still got some life in them but I might gift them to someone in need of new skate shoes. Plus the sole is balding, and I've got ten more pairs of shoes I want to skate.

Started to skate these Half-Cabs today. I haven't had Half-Cabs in a long time and wanted to skate them again. I'm trying to avoid vulcs due to my aching feet/hips/ankles but I couldn't resist. Maybe I should switch up the insole.

Right off the bat they're way grippier than the Accel slims. The sole's thin which I'm wary about as far as support. The flick isn't as precise as the Accels but I can't remember flip trick problems in Half-Cabs, so hopefully it's not an issue. And I relearned proper f/s no-complies today in them, so I'm taking that as a good sign.

I’m going back to these Reebok’s for now. If they don’t workout I might try to skate some Busenitz’s that I’ve had laying around for a while. I own more shoes than any normal person ever should. The Legacy Slims I’ve been skating might be too small for me and causing my arches to cramp up and other ankle/lower leg pains. I’m gonna skate some other stuff for a bit to see if it was the DC’s, or something else completely
