Appreciate the report! Surprised they feel grippy I actually thought they wouldn't be, being a thicker cup. I'm coming from the 440 which I've skated for years so my fear is the 480 will be too bulky and not as precise with less board feel. But a lot of people like them and I'm excited to try a new shoe.
I also have that back and forth on NB shoes. People geek out on new colorways and I'm like bruh. Thems clown shoes. Just ass. Some of the color combos are cringe. Yet others look damn good. I respect that subjectivity and their finesse with design, plus the shoes skate amazing so I can't really shit on them haha
No problem!
As for the grippy feel, like I said, my most recent skate shoes were Walmart Etnies that basically had no outsole to begin with. I wore down the tread around the ball to nothing within a couple sessions. My other shoes before those were Blazer Mids, which should be similar to 440s but I had those for nearly two years and the tread was down to nearly nothing for a long time before I retired them. Also mostly been riding a deck that's basically retired so griptape is really worn. So, brand new shoes with decent grip on fairly new griptape is probably the grippiest combo I've felt on a skateboard in a couple years makes my grip meter severely skewed.

The irony...I just laced these up and thought of you skating in them

Oh hell yeah man, those are so sick. Hope you’re able to get out of the house and get some clips in them!

Those blue Brooklyn projects 480s look even better on foot. I love skating the suede 480s so much
I surely can and will! It's not GPS for house arrest it just samples BAC..long story but it wasn't for a DUI

while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

cons x rose anvil?

Remy taveira
It was a joke. The Rose Anvil guy said that CONS copied their “bloodcore” leather when he reviewed the shoe.

Tried them with an extra Dr Scholl's gel insole (which sucked) and now again with some game changers sport in the meantime I try to break in the damn insoles

I skate in NB Foy 306, which I really like. Great vulc feel with an insole that has good cushioning.

The sole (bottom bit, not sure what that’s called) wears out too fast compared to the rest of the shoe.

Can anyone recommend a similar vulc shoe from other brands that has good protection and a more durable sole?

I don’t know about the 306 but the Blazers I had seemed to last forever. Especially the outsole. It was worn paper thin at the beginning of the summer and I figured it would wear through soon since I could feel my fingers on both sides when pushing from the inside. But summer ended and they still never wore through so I just retired them anyways. I had to shoegoo the top and around the edges of the outsole a few times but the bottom would not give up.

Testing if I can make these ones work for me with down game changers sport (wtf) insoles.
So far they feel nice walking wise, definitely an improvement.

You can try ebay or Poshmark. People mainly sell the Pop Trading collabs: blue/yellow highs and purple dragonskin lows.

It’s disappointing that CONS only did limited editions instead of making it a staple.
