Nike, Seriously.
« on: May 16, 2008, 01:16:16 PM »
Does nike still try to sell the bullshit about supporting CORE SK8BOARDING? Or was that just to get the foot in the door, trick skateboarders into seeing what the 'new' program was all about?

With the release of the 6.0 line, in every mall skateshop, foot locker, etc. essentially mimicking the SB line, along with their saturation of the skateboarding shoe market, acquisition of Converse and re-entry into skateboarding, is it not perfectly clear Nike is bullshit? Does everyone think Asian Hipsters* are going to support CORE SK8BOARDING forever?

make me think of these every time

heres the 6.0 FC

heres the blazer

they have dunk lows 6.0, they have one similar to the Regime.
More kids in the USA are skateboarding over playing baseball, the former national past time. Nike is already poised to inherit it all.

We've done the petri dish test. Maybe we should waste them before its too late..

Once the hipsters stop buying it, there will be less market for nike skate shoes, and Nike will stop making them. So welcome to the team that will never be down with nike skate.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”

They make a good shoe and all that but it's just not my thing so I don't buy them. I'm not in Birdo's camp or anything though.

if it wasn't for corporate people skateboarding probably wouldn't be what it is today you'd juts have to make your own board and people wouldn't be able to make a living doing it so corporate people are helping skateboarding. in fact theres a guy named edmund bacon and he's never skated in his life so you could call him "corporate" and he supported the skaters in their goal to make love park skateable

Yeah man, thank god everyone on here likes where skateboarding is today.
Edmund Bacon did skate through Love Park, and he never took money from skateboarders. He took money from the city (same city that fucked over all the skaters), so he's been siding with the skaters and against the "corporate" people all along.

good point but how about vans? if i'm not mistaken they make shoes for people outside the "extreme sports" world so wheres the hate on them? btw how is nike stealing from skaters? they make a g7reat shoe unlike alot of the "core" companies and you have a choice you don't HAVE to buy nike's so i don't understand how they're "stealing" from us

Vans has been in skateboarding since the 70s, so right off the bat they aren't on Nike's level. Every skate company that makes non-skate goods has been hated here, including Vans. Hell, they might even get more than most.

And I'm not sure what you're referencing with the "nike stealing from skaters" bit... nobody's mentioned it in this thread, anyways. But hey, if you pretend to be friends with a guy, use him to make money, then ditch him the second he stops making you money, that ain't much better than stealing.

good point chuck but even though im contradicting myself skaters just used nike basketball shoes nike didn't have any interest in skateboarding then also the whole reason people skated nike's/jordan's then was because vans i think stopped making skate shoes around the 80's so wait a sec that means vans left skateboarding during a time that it wasn't that big and then decided to come back later when it got bigger just like nike....
