Excuse the mini write-up, but I recently just got back into trying to shoot skating. I moved away from SD over 11 years ago and while I'm still a massive skate nerd, I didn't know anyone who skated where I live. Life, family, work and kids keeps me super busy, but I really missed skating and documenting it. I was always a filmer, but messed around shooting skate photos back in the day here and there.
A couple months ago I just Instagram stalked some local skaters and asked if they'd be down to let me try to shoot some photos of them. One guy was super down and we've been going out here and there to try and shoot some stuff. It's mainly been park tricks, but he had an idea for a street spot last night and we ended up getting these. I still have a lot to learn with skate photography despite digesting decades of skate mags, but I was happy with this first shot.
I'm hoping to buy some strobes and flashes and learn more about lighting. Shoutout to local SLAP homie Fongstarr for giving me some info on flashes. Photography's my day job, but getting back out skating and shooting skateboarding has been really rewarding the last few months.
