Thanks man.  Didn't use a filter.  Just a lot of processing in lightroom.

Is Lightroom worth the $? Need to get Photoshop/lightroom not sure which is better. Haven't used it before and my old version of photoshop was pretty old, from Adobe Creative Suite 3.

It really depends on the extent of what you want to do.I find that Lightroom is just easier and faster to use. So if say you were editing a wedding set, Lightroom would be more ideal to whip through each photo and edit in a solid time. Photoshop is just more technical but and you can achieve everything Lightroom can but it just takes more adjusting imo. I use photoshop more so but I don't use Filters at all. But really you are doing very minimal to photos anyways and most of the same things are there that are on any program like contrast, exposure, color balance, etc.

Honestly if you don't have the money, just bootleg both programs and just see which one you like.

Any advice on bootlegging Adobe programs. I spent all the time downloading PS like a month ago only to find out I needed to enter a serial number to actually use it.

Yeah photoshop does everything lightroom does, but photoshop is built for so much more than just quick coloring of pictures.  Lightroom is nice because all the tools are just laid out for you and the workflow is so fast.

I do 90% of my coloring in lightroom, but if you want to touch up a photo, like say edit out an extra arm or get super technical, I use photoshop.

To answer your question, lightroom is worth the $...but I'd bootleg it if you can

I got Photoshop from my girl's brother and I think he got it from Demonoid. I think it's the same program that is up on Piratebay too. Just download the torrent and I think the serials are on there as well as the crack program. I believe you need all of that and not just the serial numbers. Lightroom is pretty straight forward from what I remember. I have it and got it  along time ago but never use it though. I should start again and just get all those damn VSCO filters that everyone is using now.

If you haven't done the free month trial of the creative cloud, do it. You can get a feel of what it's like. Also, a loophole in the system, which only works really for desktops, is that if you keep your program open, the trial doesn't end. I sleep my computer at night and when I did the free trial, I left InDesign and Photoshop open and it worked for 3 and a half months until my computer froze and I had to restart it. I echo the same stuff Fongstarr and The Bullet said about the 2 programs too.

Your portraits are always killer.  I might be crazy, but do you shoot with an RX100?  Going to gradually unload most of my film gear and eventually buy a nicer digital camera, and was looking at those.  Small, but still really capable.

Thanks man!  Yeah all the portraits I've posted on here are with the RX100.  The pop-up flash can be adjusted by 1/3 stops up to two stops either direction and you can manually tilt it back to bounce the light off the ceiling, which is a great feature.  These two were done with available light, but most of the others used a fill.  That, with the larger sensor, raw capabilities, external manual controls, and size make it my favorite camera out of dozens that I've owned over the years.

edit:
You can see some of the other RX100 photos on my site, although I'm due for an update.

Nice site, and thanks for giving me the run down.  It'll definitely be up for consideration when I decide to take the digital plunge.
