I only heard good things about Sony a7, big sensor sounds very nice too.

a friend of mine has the A7S, and its pretty much a night-vision machine.
the iso-capabilities are nothing but breathtaking.

Amazing stuff you guys and also thanks for the input. So I've gotten it down to 3 possible cameras, the sony a7, fujifilm xt1, and the olympus omd 1. Has anyone shot with any of these and can provide some insight.

these three are still insanely different - a7 has the worst AF of the bunch, but the biggest and the best sensor. fuji is a great all-rounder, but isn't the best for video. omd is highly praised, but I would never go for a x2 crop factor

Thanks for the input, the fujifilm xt1 has definitely been on my mind after having a friend showed me his. Only reason I wouldn't go with the omd is because of the crop factor. Ive been shooting with an epl1 and the crop factor has definitely been annoying to deal with, especially when using an adapter+ lens. I do plan to read up some more before I decide.

Just like you mentioned the sensor size of the a7 is what caught my interest. I feel like each camera has their pros and cons. Also the range of the iso is a big plus since I'd love to start shooting more in the night.

I just hear the auto focus isn't too great but might not be an issue only if you don't shoot action. Ziess just released some prime lenses that autofocus and are supposed to be pretty good.

Some stuff on my hike up north with my girl.

Beautiful stuff Fongstarr!

Yeah i've read into that and was thinking that perhaps investing in the sony a6000 would be better than the a7. I still have time to decide, so I'll continue to do some research. Thanks for all the input.

^^^^^I hear the A6000 is good. Auto focus is supposed to be really good on that thing. I think the only really downside is maybe the lens selection but other than that for the budget, the A6000 is a great way to start off shooting.

This is great. I love the colors and the contrast with the surrounding darkness.

I never messed with my camera's flash much because I'm more a fan of daytime/nature light, but this past Friday I decided to go out and toy around with it. I got curious and took a few photos of lights, and I really like how they turned out.

For what it's worth: I have the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and am super happy. I love the design with regards to usability. All the relevant buttons and dials are easy and quick to reach and it has this analog feel to it. I guess the most discussed topic for this one is speed of AF. Once it locks it is quite sharp but admittedly it isn't the fastest. For me this is no issue as I zone-focus in manual mode and all the photographers I love are from a street/reportage background where sharpness of the picture is not what makes the picture interesting. I would definitely recommend trying one for a day or two if you have the chance. I never regretted the purchase and love the camera. So far I've been shooting with the 18mm. I want to get the 35mm which supposedly is much faster AF, increased sharpness and a nice 1.4 aperture. Another good thing about the X-Pro1: It uses the "old" fujifilm sensor (I think it is the same as the x100) with nicer color rendition, also since it is not exactly recent, prices are very reasonable. I bought used and there are lots of great once on the web.
I'll go frontside on some tranny for you.

If anyone's interested, recently my soon to be husband and I traveled nearly 20,000 miles cross country. We photographed lesser known areas deserving of National Park status.

Nice. Same spot I was at. Were the rest shot up North near Burney Falls? I feel like I didn't even scratch what was out there. Too bad the weather didn't totally pan out for us.

I love your photo Fongstar, much better than mine. We hiked the circle trail, it was beautiful but I didn't really get anything in the way of photos. You saw the best part of Burney Falls. The other shots are from Maine, Grand Teton peaks, and Oregon.

I hiked the circle trail too. Didn't know it was so short. I was trying to shoot near where the waterfall falls off even if there were signs but it looked sketch when getting closer. I don't know how you shot Burney Falls without any tourist in it. I am not sure if you noticed it (you've had to though) but there was an abundant amount of Indian and Asian tourist there. I know we Asians flock everywhere but had no idea where all these Indian tourist came from.

We went on a weekday after a storm. A group of ham planets and their loud butter beast fuck trophy moons set up hammocks right in front of the falls, the adults proceeded to rub their sweaty clinically obese rolls over each other in a repulsive make out session. The composition I sought was totally compromised by true Americans, so I settled with an off center shot.    :-\

Some 35mm shots I've taken, some with a broken Holga, the others with a broken Nikon (I just took photos of the photos with my phone so I could post these on Instagram, I don't know anything about scanning, so the quality of these can be questionable):
