I just found my old 35mm Cannon at my parents house and can't wait to go buy film. I never use my Nikon D70. Think I'll get two b&w and one color.

^^^^What's your lighting setup for the external flashes? Sorry if I've asked this before.

Two of the yungnuo 565's, also a sunpak 622 and a sunpak 555. One of the yungnuo's is usually broken though, the battery door doesn't like to stay closed and it has to be for the battery to provide power. They also aren't very powerful so I have to put them pretty close, from watching videos it seems like a lot of people use profoto, elinchrom or other pretty powerful setups.

So you had to get a bracket for the yongnuos? I have two but can never emit enough light for some daylight use. I kind of want a new lighting setup but am on a budget. I'll look into the ones you suggest though.

Geez....this page rules. So good guys.

whale....where did you see the northern lights? I went to Iceland but unfortunately didn't get to see it there.

I live in northern finland, on the arctic circle.
The last year or so northern lights have been super active, and there are websites that monitor their activity.
I assume Iceland was amazing enough, even without the auroras!

Here's two others

I'm curious what sort of colors you can see with your naked eye as opposed to what your camera picks up. I shot the Northern Lights in Oregon over the last year and my camera picked up deep vivid purples and yellows, but I couldn't see the color in the night sky. I could visibly see the dancing streams of light, but it looked like white light to me. I imagine in areas where you are, the colors are more visible though.

I believe your eyes are capable of picking up all the colors of the Aurora, but it the conditions have to be ideal and basically zero light pollution.
I mainly see green, purple and white/light blue too when they're peaking.

sick stuff, josh. the first bedroom (hotel?) photo, "psycho cop" and the final street scene are standouts. that last one is just about perfect -- feels very balanced and i love the soft, glowing streetlight.

The landscapes are sick. Almost need to see prints to catch all the textures.

Thank you very much, Brandon. I was very happy with how a lot of these turned out. Been experimenting with flash on 35mm a lot lately and I'm liking what I'm getting.

It's actually all done in camera with of course some major PS edits. I ran into it on some blog a week ago. Apparently on the Canon Mark 3, there is a mode to do it which even allows you to see the second image in live view so you can align it properly with the textured photo you want blended in it. It takes some time to get the right one but once you have it, it will save as a RAW file and you can go back into PS and just mess with the levels so toy have more blown out whites and darker blacks.

i`ve been searching for a 5dmk3 in proper condition and reasonable price range for quite some time now. the 5dmk1 starts to seriously limit me in some fields, especially iso. i dont give a fuck about noise, i just need more range.

Thanks, I didn't know this existed. You could get the same thing only using PS but this function is obviously more goal-oriented.
Cameras these days have so many extra thingys, I wish they had less extras and more opportunities for individual uniqueness though...
