Got a photo in the most recent issue of Dear Dave Magazine. It's accompanying an essay written by an old professor of mine about the events in Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray. I'm really stoked that he reached out to involve me and that it's finally a thing.

Thanks, Fong! The feeling of seeing your work in print will never wear off for me.

And that photo is sick! Is the red background a photo or digitally created? Either way, it looks really nice dude!

It was a flash gel. I forgot I had those things in one of my camera bags. I have a grey backdrop and the colors came out fine on there. It was a little muddy at first but I did some surface blur and other touch ups on it to make it more smooth.

It's always a good day when Matze shuts it down with a mega photo post. Also, love that photo, Herc. Been trying to get into skate photography so maybe by the time it gets a little warmer around here, I'll have some stuff.

Thanks dude! It was all one night. Provia really allows for some funky atmospheric colors, but a lot of also is affected by the street lights. Baltimore has been putting in a lot of new LED lights to replace older sodium vapor ones. The LED lights give off a more blueish/whiteish tone, while the sodium vapor ones are a clusterfuck of yellow.

Some pictures from a trip to Namibia, early 2016 :

I regrouped most of these + some others (21 in total) in this little photozine I made :

It me up if you're interested of course.

One from near Cape Town :

I had been wanting to go on a trip with one camera/one film only for a while see if I could challenge myself and pull it and this is the result. So this is all M3/Tri-X.

Matze

I warn you. and all you guys who travel a lot and still shoot film.

try to carry those films to airplane without putting those films into the scanners which scan your bags...those films might get exposed and be ruined. not necessarily but...

I never had any problems since last year cause most of airports have now very effective new bombscanners which scan the bags. I was really pissed since last year I traveled a few months, shot 30rolls of film and most of em where exposed cause of those x-ray scanners...

Needless to say I was pissed when I came home and developed my films.

This winter I traveled again and managed to get all my films hand checked most of my flights (I guess they used a dog to sniff my bag instead of scanner)but once security was really strict and said I wouldnt get in the plane if I dont scan my films and cameras. It's almost always a hassle and security always says dont worry the x-ray scanners wont harm em.

I never had any problem but I can understand being paranoid about that since it would be a huge bummer to have a lot of exposed film ruined. It's more fragile once it's exposed too. But really as long as you put it in your hand luggage I think it should be ok... Kodak says so, after all.

I definitely had heard stories films being exposed but never had problems either. I've had 10+ flights and never got any problems and had all my films in the cargo, hand luggage whereever.

but Im not paranoid, I think I should scan a few frames so you could see how those turned out.

Its a bad rumor until it happens to you and I must say it's fucked.

anyways I always like your stuff tumulishhroom. good shit.

Well yeah I trust that if it were to happen to me I would be bummed big time. I know they sell anti-x-ray bags on the internet somewhere. (edit : http://www.japancamerahunter.com/shop/hansa-x-ray-proof-bag/).

And thanks a lot !

actually I heard that bag doesnt help. The scanner just puts the xray volume stronger if it notices that theres a lead bag in it
